Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports has granted 405,257.61 euros in subsidies for improvements in energy efficiency and innovation within the tourism sector of the Balearic Islands. The resolution, signed by the Minister Jaime Bauzá Mayol on November 2, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 141, dated November 5, 2026, with resolution number 11113 and document reference 1232105. The amount is distributed among five beneficiaries and eleven action files.
The grant derives from the call approved by resolution of the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports published in the BOIB on May 21, 2026, initially endowed with 5,000,000.00 euros charged to the sustainable tourism tax fund of the Government of the Balearic Islands, allocated to budget item 12201/G/751C01/77000/00/26064. The aid is processed as state aid covered by articles 29 and 38 of Commission Regulation (EU) 651/2014 of June 17, 2014, and is exempt from the notification obligation provided for in article 108.3 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
The procedure is of non-competitive concurrence: beneficiaries are selected by strict order of receipt of applications until the credit is exhausted. The submission period ran from June 8 to September 30, 2026. This resolution adds to that of October 24, 2026, which had already granted 980,415.00 euros within the same call, and comes after the proposed resolution was published on October 1, 2026, and passed the ten-working-day hearing process without any allegations.

Envelopes, boilers and air conditioning
All approved actions correspond to the energy efficiency program, under typologies 1 and 2; no file in this resolution falls within the process and organization innovation program. The interventions focus on the replacement of exterior carpentry, home insulation, the renovation of diesel boilers, the improvement of thermal generation systems, and the installation of aerothermal systems.
The total eligible budgets declared by the applicants sum to 867,816.58 euros. The aid intensity is 50% in ten of the eleven files, while in that of My Way 2020 SLU it is limited to 30% of a budget of 143,253.39 euros, with a grant of 42,976.02 euros.
Execution deadlines and payment schedule
The resolution sets specific time conditions for the beneficiary companies:
- Execution of actions: from May 22, 2026, to March 31, 2028, and only expenses started after the submission of the application are eligible for subsidies.
- Optional partial payment of 40% (162,103.05 euros), with justification between May 1 and May 31, 2027.
- Final justification from April 1 to May 2, 2028, with the payment of the remaining 60% (243,154.56 euros) charged to the 2028 fiscal year.
- Optional appeal for reversal before the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports within a period of one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands within a period of two months.
Impact on the hotel sector
The 405,257.61 euros granted mobilize a private investment of more than 867,000 euros in eleven tourist establishments, mostly hotels and accommodations in the inland areas and the coast of Mallorca. The resolution consolidates the use of the sustainable tourism tax as a source of financing for hotel decarbonization and still leaves room within the initial allocation of five million euros of the call, which anticipates new grant resolutions until the assigned credit is exhausted.
