Extremadura's High Court admits appeal against Local Police competitive examinations

The High Court of Justice of Extremadura is processing the contentious-administrative appeal filed against the selection process for 68 Local Police Officer positions announced by the Regional Government of Extremadura. The General Secretariat of the Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, Interior and Emergencies has agreed to summon potential interested parties to appear before the court within nine days. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) no. 186, dated September 25, 2026, by means of the Resolution of September 17, 2026 (reference 2026062405).

The appeal, processed as ordinary procedure no. 380/2026, has been filed by the legal representation of Carlos Benítez Durán. It is directed against the Resolution of June 4, 2026, issued by the Vice-President and Minister of Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, Interior and Emergencies, which dismissed the administrative appeal filed against the Agreement of the Selection Board dated April 27, 2026, ratified by Agreement on April 28, 2026.

The affected selection process was announced by the Order of July 16, 2025, for the provision of 68 Local Police Officer positions in municipalities of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. The resolution was signed in Mérida on September 17, 2026, by the General Secretary, David González Gil.
