Three Galician festivals, declared of tourist interest by the Xunta

The Council of the Xunta de Galicia has declared the Festa da Ameixa de Campelo (Poio, Pontevedra), the Noite Meiga (Sarria, Lugo), and the Romaría de Santa Minia (Brión, A Coruña) as festivals of tourist interest in Galicia. The decision, adopted at the meeting on May 25, 2026, was published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG no. 161) on August 26, 2026, in section III of other provisions.

The publication is materialized through three resolutions dated August 19, 2026, signed by the director of the Tourism Agency of Galicia, José Manuel Merelles Remy, which order the publication of the agreements of the Council of the Xunta.

Regulatory framework

The declaration is processed under Decree 4/2015, of January 8, which regulates the declaration of festivals of tourist interest in Galicia. In accordance with Article 18, the Directorate of the Tourism Agency of Galicia arranges for the publication in the official bulletin of the agreements adopted by the Council of the Xunta.

The three festivals now join the catalog of celebrations recognized by the Xunta, a distinction that seeks to reinforce their tourist projection and local economic impact.

The three recognized festivals

Each of the celebrations was the subject of its own agreement and resolution, with its official reference:

Recognition and impact

The distinction of festival of tourist interest in Galicia is granted to celebrations with a uniqueness and deep-rootedness that make them attractive to visitors. The recognition provides a boost to the promotion of these events and to the economy of the municipalities of Poio, Sarria, and Brión, which see their capacity to attract tourism endorsed.

The declaration, effective from its publication, reinforces the Galician festive calendar and positions these three celebrations as benchmarks of the community’s intangible heritage.
