Torrevieja increases local police officer positions to 63

The Torrevieja City Council has increased to 63 the number of local police officer positions offered in the current selection process, after adding 19 additional positions from the 2025 and 2026 Public Employment Offers. The decision, adopted by Decree of the Delegated Councilor for Personnel no. 2026-5426, signed on August 20, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante number 158, dated August 21, 2026.

The expansion is added to the original call for 44 local police officer positions, included in the 2023 and 2024 PEOS, which was already underway. The agreement is based on the mechanism provided for in the call’s own rules for the accumulation of positions not offered at the time of publication, addressing the staffing needs of the municipality’s Local Police.

Distribution of positions

With the addition of the 19 extra positions, the final number of vacancies that can be filled is distributed as follows:

• 63 total positions for local police officer, basic scale, officer category.
• 45 positions via open competition (free shift).
• 18 positions reserved for the mobility shift for career civil servants from local police forces of the Valencian Community, basic scale, officer category.

Processing and publication

The decree authorizes the technical selection body to add the 19 additional positions to the current call, which provides for the permanent filling of the 44 vacant positions and the creation of a job bank. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante, on the Notice Board of the City Council’s Electronic Office, and on the municipal website.

Against the resolution, which exhausts administrative remedies, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month before the same body, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Elche within two months, in accordance with Law 39/2015 and Law 29/1998.

A public employment opportunity in the region

The expansion makes this call one of the largest public police employment offers in the region, with a notable increase in positions via open competition, which expands access possibilities for new applicants. Furthermore, the reservation of 18 positions for internal mobility reinforces the professional career of officers from the local police forces of the Valencian Community.
