Torremejía definitively approves the modification of water and sewage rates

The City Council of Torremejía (Badajoz) has finalized the modification of the tax ordinances regulating the drinking water supply fee and the urban and industrial wastewater treatment fee. The agreement, initially approved by the Municipal Plenary on June 30, 2026, is now published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, via Announcement 3671/2026. The new wording of the annex sets the fees that will be applied to the water bills of all subscribers in the municipality.

The final approval occurs after no claims were filed during the 30-business-day period opened from the initial publication in the BOP. The City Council relies on articles 49.c) and 70.2 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of Local Regime, to finalize the plenary agreement and publish the modified text in full as an annex. The announcement is signed by the mayor, Francisco Trinidad Peñato.

An appeal against the final agreement may be filed through contentious-administrative channels, in the form and within the timeframes established by current legislation, as stated in the announcement itself.

New drinking water tariffs

The modification of the supply ordinance affects its annex, which distinguishes between domestic use and industrial use. For domestic use, the fees are as follows:

• Quarterly fixed fee for each meter up to 20 mm: 14.82 euros.
• Quarterly fixed fee for each meter over 20 mm: 24.72 euros.
• Variable fee: 1.060 euros/m³.
• Remote reading meter renewal fee: 3.40 euros/quarter.

For industrial use, the annex establishes:

• Quarterly fixed fee for each meter up to 20 mm: 23.94 euros.
• Quarterly fixed fee for each meter over 20 mm: 26.63 euros.
• Variable up to 150 m³/quarter: 1.330 euros/m³.
• Variable over 150 m³/quarter: 2.9957 euros/m³.
• Remote reading meter renewal fee: 3.40 euros/quarter.

Special tariff for large industry

The text incorporates a specific tariff for subscribers declared as “Large Industry,” with a consumption equal to or greater than 2,000 m³ per quarter. These will be billed as follows:

• Quarterly fixed fee: 7,486.58 euros/quarter.
• Variable up to 150 m³/quarter: 1.330 euros/m³.
• Variable over 150 m³/quarter: 2.9957 euros/m³.
• Minimum annual billed consumption: 50,000 m³/year.

Additionally, the installation of service connections (hooks) will be billed at a rate of 78.15 euros for all concepts, with the exception of the meter.

Wastewater treatment

The second modified ordinance regulates the fee for urban and industrial wastewater treatment, the annex of which is worded as follows:

• General quarterly fixed fee: 3.00 euros/quarter.
• Additional fixed fee for olive dressing factories: 38.850 euros/quarter.
• Variable fee based on water consumption up to 150 m³/quarter: 0.320 euros/m³.
• Variable fee based on water consumption exceeding 150 m³/quarter: 0.400 euros/m³.

The modification directly affects the water bill of all residents of Torremejía, as it updates both the fixed and variable supply fees as well as the sewage treatment amount.
