Torrelavit opens grants for the transport of post-compulsory students

The Torrelavit City Council has announced grants on a non-competitive basis intended for students aged 16 to 24 who are pursuing post-compulsory studies outside the municipality and use public transport, in order to reduce their commuting expenses. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB) on September 2, 2026, with reference CVE 202610136425, and was electronically signed by the mayor, Manuel Raventós Cuyàs, on August 29, 2026.

The specific regulatory bases were approved by the Municipal Plenary on January 19, 2026, and published in the BOPB on January 29, 2026. Once the public information period ended without claims or allegations, the call was definitively approved and will be publicized in the National Grants Database (BDNS).

Purpose and beneficiaries

The purpose of the grant is to alleviate the public transport expenses of Torrelavit students pursuing formal or regulated post-compulsory studies at a center located outside the municipal boundaries, to ensure equity in access to education. It partially covers the purchase of personal and non-transferable public transport tickets valid in Catalonia or the post-compulsory school transport service of the Alt Penedès County Council.

Beneficiaries must meet the following requirements:

• Be between 16 and 24 years old (both inclusive) and be registered as residents of Torrelavit prior to the approval of the call.
• Pursue post-compulsory studies at a center outside the municipality: Baccalaureate, Intermediate and Higher Level vocational training cycles, Training and Insertion Program, specific Training Itineraries, or university studies.
• Use public transport for regular commutes to the study center.

Amount and eligible expenses

The maximum budget allocated for the 2025-2026 academic year is 3,728.40 euros, charged to budget application 231.480.00 of the municipal budget. The maximum amount per application is 200 euros, and grants exceeding this amount cannot be awarded.

Eligible expenses correspond to the purchase of personal and non-transferable transport tickets in Catalonia or the post-compulsory school transport service of the Alt Penedès County Council, attributable to the 2025-26 academic year. The amount will be distributed among the applications received and will be reduced if the justification of expenses does not prove the full amount.

Deadline and processing

Applications shall be submitted to the City Council Registry using a generic request with the standardized form, available on the municipal website (www.torrelavit.cat). The deadline is one month starting from the day after the publication of the call in the BOPB.

The required documentation includes the application form, DNI or NIE of the father, mother, or legal guardian and of the student, the family book or judicial resolution if applicable, the enrollment document, the IBAN certificate, the responsible declaration, and the proof of purchase of the transport pass. The instruction corresponds to the Municipal Secretariat and the Department of Social Welfare, the assessment to the professionals of the Basic Social Services, and the resolution to the Local Government Board, with a maximum resolution period of two months.

The call for applications represents a direct grant for families in Torrelavit with young people who must travel outside the municipality to continue their studies, a key factor in guaranteeing educational equity in a municipality of the Alt Penedès where post-compulsory offerings often necessitate daily mobility.
