Tormes approves new cemetery fee: niches at 850 euros
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of San Lorenzo de Tormes has finalized the modification of Fiscal Ordinance No. 8 regarding the Cemetery Fee, which sets the price for niches at 850 euros and columbariums at 500 euros. The agreement was adopted by the Corporation in the Ordinary Session of April 11, 2026, and became final as no written claims or allegations were submitted to the City Council. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ávila on September 17, 2026, under Number 1857/26, within the Local Administration section.
The agreement and its processing
The modification affects the ordinance regulating the fee for municipal cemetery services and reaches its final phase without any registered neighborhood opposition. According to the official announcement, the file received no written claims or allegations during the public exhibition period, which automatically converts the initial agreement into a final one.
The published text indicates that the rest of the ordinance’s articles remain unchanged, meaning the change is concentrated in the tariff of Article 3. An administrative appeal may be filed against the agreement following the publication of the ordinance in the BOP, in the form and within the timeframes provided for in administrative litigation legislation.
The new tariffs
Article 3 maintains the nature of the services as the taxable base of the fee, while the tax quota is determined by the application of the tariff. The approved amounts are as follows:
- Niches for the interment of one coffin and two ash urns for 75 years: 850.00 euros.
- Columbariums for three urns: 500.00 euros.
The assignment of a niche requires a prior request to the City Council and is resolved according to the order of requests, contingent upon the payment of the fee into the municipal account. The right of use extends, in the case of niches, for a period of 75 years.
Who signs and who is affected
The announcement is dated in San Lorenzo de Tormes on September 14, 2026, and bears the signature of the Mayor, Maira Margarita Jiménez Jiménez. The regulation falls under the authority of local entities to regulate and modify their fiscal ordinances in accordance with Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, which approves the Revised Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries.
The modification directly impacts residents who contract municipal funeral services, as it determines the amount to be paid for the use of niches and columbariums in the local cemetery. As it is a fee, payment is required as consideration for the provision of the service or the use of the local public domain.
Impact for residents
The entry into force of the updated tariff means that any family requesting a niche or a columbarium in the municipal cemetery must pay the newly approved amounts, without the rest of the ordinance having been altered. The publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ávila also opens the period for those wishing to challenge the agreement before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction, a route that is expressly enabled from the date of the regulation’s publication.
