Tomelloso announces 3,000 euros in prizes for five festival brass bands
Por FactBox Admin

The Tomelloso City Council has announced a brass band (charangas) competition with 3,000 euros in prizes, aiming to promote the local traditions and popular festivals of the town. The call is published as an abstract in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ciudad Real number 202, dated October 20, 2026, under announcement number 3384 and identification BDNS 936032 in the National Grants Database. The registration deadline ends at 2:00 PM on January 29, 2027.
Regulatory Framework and Issuing Body
The abstract is disseminated in accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, which requires the publication of announcements in the official gazette for calls whose full text is referred to the National Grants Database. The full text of the call and its annexes can be consulted in the National Grant Publicity System, pursuant to the Resolution of 12/10/2015 of the State General Comptroller (BOE number 299, of 12/15/2015).
The regulatory bases governing the competition were approved by resolution of the Mayor’s Office of the Tomelloso City Council, published on the municipal notice board on October 19, 2026, one day before the announcement appeared in the provincial gazette.
Who Can Participate and How Selection is Made
Any brass band that meets the requirements set out in the bases may apply:
- Minimum composition of 8 members per ensemble.
- Mandatory registration prior to the competition.
- Maximum number of 5 participating bands.
- Selection criterion based on the order of registration received in the event that the number of applications is exceeded.
The declared objective of the call is “the promotion and development of the traditions and popular festivals of Tomelloso”, according to the second section of the abstract.
Prize Amounts and Payment Method
The total endowment amounts to 3,000 euros, distributed across three awards:
- First prize: 1,300 euros.
- Second prize: 1,000 euros.
- Third prize: 700 euros.
The amounts will be subject to the corresponding legal withholding and will be paid via bank transfer, as specified in the fourth section of the announcement.
Deadline and Place of Submission
Applications shall be submitted at the Entry Registry of the Tomelloso City Council or through any of the means provided for in Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations. The registration period for the brass band competition concludes at 2:00 PM on January 29, 2027, meaning interested ensembles have slightly more than three months from the publication of the abstract.
Impact for Musical Collectives
The call for applications provides a stable funding channel for the municipality’s street music groups and reinforces the local festive calendar by linking the prize to participation in popular celebrations. With a maximum of five slots and a threshold of eight musicians per brass band (charanga), the competition reserves up to 3,000 euros for a small collective, which places the average prize per participating ensemble in the region of 600 euros if all vacancies are filled. The requirement for prior registration and the first-come, first-served criterion make timeliness a decisive factor for groups aspiring to participate.
