Por FactBox Admin

The Tomelloso City Council has announced the local Spontaneous Carnival Mask competition with 15 cash prizes reaching up to 450 euros, according to the extract published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ciudad Real number 213, dated Wednesday, November 4, 2026, within the local administration section. The call for entries is listed with the identifier BDNS 939325 and Announcement number 3548, on page 50 of a 52-page bulletin. The registration deadline ends at 12:00 PM on February 5, 2027.
The declared objective is “the promotion and development of the traditions and popular festivals of Tomelloso.” The extract is published under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the full text with its annexes can be consulted in the National Subsidies Database.
The call is governed by the rules approved by resolution of the Mayoralty-Presidency published on the municipal notice board on October 30, 2026. The document appears signed by the Head of the BOP Section, Juan Luis Cuadros Campo, dated November 3, 2026.
Fifteen prizes in three categories
The distribution is set at five prizes for each of the three planned modalities, with decreasing amounts according to position:
- Individual: 150, 130, 110, 90, and 50 euros from first to fifth prize.
- Couple: 200, 170, 150, 130, and 100 euros.
- Group: 450, 300, 275, 240, and 190 euros.
The sum of the published amounts totals 2,735 euros, with the first group prize (450 euros) as the highest award and the fifth individual prize (50 euros) as the lowest. The evaluation criteria listed in the extract include originality, characterization, charm, and the most original costume, among others.
Requirements to participate
Any person from the town of Tomelloso over 16 years of age may compete, and registration is mandatory. Participants between 16 and 18 years old must attach permission from their mother, father, or legal guardian. At the time of registration, a list of participants must be provided, including first name, last name, and ID (DNI).
Registration is submitted at the Department of Cultural Services, at calle Independencia, 32, second floor.
The extract names the contest “Local Spontaneous Carnival Mask Competition 2026” and, at the same time, places the deadline in February 2027, in the lead-up to the 2027 festive calendar.
A package of festive calls
The announcement is part of a series of municipal calls issued on the same day and under the same rules approved on October 30, 2026. Announcement number 3547 (BDNS 939372) calls for a poster competition with a single prize of 500 euros to promote the 2027 Tomelloso carnival, with submissions accepted until December 30, 2026, in a vertical format of 70 x 50 centimeters.
For its part, Announcement number 3549 (BDNS 939354) regulates the VI Local Competition for the burial of the sardine of the 2027 Carnival, with six prizes in the group category—from 500 to 250 euros—for groups of at least 15 participants and a deadline until 2:00 PM on February 9, 2027.
Why it matters
The three calls combine local public funds destined for the festivities, with a design that prioritizes collective participation: the highest-paid group in the costume contest (450 euros) almost triples the first individual prize (150 euros), and the burial of the sardine contest requires a minimum of 15 members per group. For social clubs, associations, and neighbors preparing for the Carnival, the calendar is now set: the poster closes in December, and the costumes and the sardine in the first days of February 2027.
