Tolmin raises tourist tax to three euros per person per night

The Občinski svet Občine Tolmin has raised the municipality’s combined tourist and promotional tax to 3.00 euros per person per night, under an amendment published in the Uradni list Republike Slovenije no. 1431/2026 of 16 September 2026. The new rate is made up of 2.40 euros of tourist tax plus 0.60 euros of promotional tax, and is to be charged on overnight stays from 1 January 2027. The amendment was adopted at the council’s 33rd session on 15 September 2026 and signed by the mayor, Alen Červ.

The change is made by the Odlok o spremembi Odloka o turistični in promocijski taksi v občini Tolmin, which rewrites Article 5 of the existing Odlok o turistični in promocijski taksi v občini Tolmin (Uradni list RS, no. 24/24 and 55/24). The council acted under Article 17 of the Zakon o spodbujanju razvoja turizma (Uradni list RS, no. 13/18 and 100/25), Article 29 of the Zakon o lokalni samoupravi and Article 21 of the Statut Občine Tolmin (Uradni list RS, no. 13/09, 17/11 and 106/15).

The new rates

The amended Article 5 fixes the two levies separately and then their sum:

• Tourist tax for an overnight stay: 2.40 euros per person per day.
• Promotional tax: 25 per cent of the tourist tax charged, equal to 0.60 euros per person per day.
• Combined tourist and promotional tax: 3.00 euros per person per day.

The promotional tax is charged in addition to the tourist tax, not instead of it, so the two amounts are collected together as a single total of 3.00 euros.

When the new rate applies

The second article of the amendment states that both taxes are to be collected and remitted at the new amounts from 1 January 2027 onwards. The third article provides that the amending decree enters into force on the fifteenth day after its publication in the Uradni list Republike Slovenije, which took place on 16 September 2026.

The decision was taken by the municipal council of Tolmin at its 33rd session, held on 15 September 2026, and the text carries the file number 007-0005/2026, dated Tolmin, 15 September 2026. It is signed by Alen Červ as mayor of the Občina Tolmin.

The measure matters to every visitor who spends a night in the municipality and to the accommodation providers that must charge and remit the levy: from the start of 2027 a night’s stay carries a flat 3.00 euros per person in local tourist and promotional charges, a figure set by the council itself and no longer left to the previous amounts.
