Tenerife opens public information process regarding wastewater discharge from a vehicle inspection station (ITV)
Por FactBox Admin

The Insular Water Council of Tenerife has opened a thirty-business-day public information period regarding the application by Dekra ITV España, S.L.U. for the treatment and discharge of wastewater from an ITV (technical vehicle inspection) station that the company plans to build in the municipality of Santa Úrsula. The announcement, signed on August 27, 2026, by the delegated secretary Marina Gallego Agulló, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 188, dated September 18, 2026, within section V. Announcements, Other announcements, Local Administration, Insular Council of Tenerife (page 34882). The file subject to exhibition is 2202_EDAR G 247/2026.
The request from Dekra ITV España, S.L.U. entered the body via a written document received on January 9, 2026. Once the documentation was examined and deemed compliant, the Insular Water Council activated the procedure provided for in Article 17.1 of the Discharge Control Regulations for the Protection of the Public Hydraulic Domain, approved by Decree 174/1994, of July 29, a regulation that requires this type of authorization to be subject to public exhibition before a resolution is made.
The procedure directly affects the public hydraulic domain, as the authorization would enable the discharge of wastewater from an industrial facility—a technical vehicle inspection station—into the corresponding network or channel. The final resolution corresponds to the Insular Water Council of Tenerife, a body dependent on the Insular Council of Tenerife.
Location and technical data of the discharge
The facility would be located at Camino Antiguo Calvario, no. 5 and 6, in the municipality of Santa Úrsula, on the island of Tenerife. The official announcement identifies the discharge point with the following coordinates:
- X Coordinate: 353.214.
- Y Coordinate: 3.145.093.
- Z Coordinate: 264.
The declared purpose of the application is the treatment and discharge of wastewater generated by the future ITV station, not its construction, which is processed through another channel.
Period, consultation, and submission of allegations
The public information period is thirty (30) business days and is counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, that is, from September 19, 2026. During this same period, the application will be available to interested parties under the following conditions:
- In-person consultation: offices of the body at Leoncio Rodríguez, no. 3, El Cabo Building, second floor, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, during office hours.
- Electronic consultation: by means of a written submission presented through any of the means provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
- Time requirement: the request for electronic access must be made sufficiently in advance of the expiration of the public information period.
Who may intervene
The process is open to any interested party, which includes holders of rights or legitimate interests affected by the discharge, as well as neighbors and entities who consider that the authorization may affect the public hydraulic domain or its surroundings. Allegations must be submitted within the indicated period; once closed, the body will resolve the administrative authorization requested by Dekra ITV España, S.L.U. for file 2202_EDAR G 247/2026.
The relevance of the news is twofold: on one hand, it sets the actual calendar for a process that conditions the launch of a new ITV station in the north of Tenerife; on the other, it opens a window of thirty business days for citizens to examine and question an industrial discharge affecting the public hydraulic domain. Those interested must act before the deadline, as the electronic consultation must be requested sufficiently in advance.
