Telefónica will deploy fiber optics along the Cordel de las Tejoneras livestock route

Telefónica de España S.A.U. will deploy a fiber-to-the-home network over the Cordel de las Tejoneras livestock route, in the province of Segovia. This has been announced by the Territorial Environmental Service of the Territorial Delegation of Segovia of the Junta de Castilla y León, which has submitted the request for public information through an announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Segovia number 110, dated September 14, 2026.

The project, processed under file SG-VP-009/25-O, involves the construction of 1,296 meters of trench with tri-duct and 4 manholes, in order to deploy a next-generation access network based on fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) architecture. The occupation is supported by Article 14 of Law 3/1995, of March 23, on Livestock Routes, which regulates the authorization of temporary occupations of these public domain lands.

Period for allegations

The announcement grants a period of one month, counted from the day following its publication, for interested parties to examine the file and present any allegations or claims they deem appropriate.

• The file can be consulted at the Territorial Service office, located at Plaza Reina Doña Juana n.º 5 in Segovia, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• It is also available on the Junta de Castilla y León website, in the Environment, participation, and access to information section, within the public information processes.

Purpose of the occupation

The action consists of the execution of a linear trench of 1,296 meters along the route of the livestock path, in which a tri-duct (three-conduit piping) will be installed to house the fiber optics, along with 4 manholes for registration and network access.

Signature and processing

The announcement, dated in Segovia on September 7, 2026, is signed by José Ignacio Quintanilla Rubio, head of the Territorial Environmental Service of Segovia. The publication in the provincial gazette initiates the public participation process provided for in the livestock route regulations, prior to the resolution of the occupation authorization requested by the operator.

The opening of this public information period allows affected residents, entities, and administrations to learn the scope of the works and formulate objections before the occupation of public domain land with its own ecological and livestock value is authorized. Furthermore, the arrival of fiber-to-the-home via this livestock route represents another step in the extension of next-generation connectivity in the rural areas of the province.
