Telde appoints 33 local police officers as career civil servants

The Telde City Council has appointed 33 officers of the municipality’s Local Police as career civil servants, after they successfully passed the corresponding competitive examination process. The decision was made public in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 102, dated August 26, 2026, through Decree 2026-8849, dated August 20, issued by the Department of Human Resources Government.
The new officers are integrated into the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Local Police Class, Group C, Subgroup C1, Local Police employment. The resolution, signed by the Councilor for Human Resources Government, Carmen Batista Hernández, in the City of Telde on August 24, 2026, also authorizes the expenditure derived from the appointment for the period between July and December 2026.

The decree appoints the candidates who, having passed the competitive examination phase, are listed in order of final qualification, as well as the subsequent phases of the selection process. Among the designated officers are:

Assumption of office and expenditure
The resolution authorizes and allocates the expenditure corresponding to the appointment as career civil servants, following the completion of the selection process to fill the 33 local police positions, charged to the budget applications contained in the case records.
The interested parties must assume their office within a period of one month, counting from the day following the notification of their appointment as career civil servants. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas and in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, as well as on the electronic notice board of the Telde City Council’s electronic headquarters and on its transparency portal.
Relevance for the municipality
The reinforcement of the Telde Local Police force with 33 new career civil servants represents a significant boost for public safety in the municipality, one of the most populated on the island of Gran Canaria. The consolidation of these officers, who attain career civil servant status after passing the selection process, guarantees the stability of the force and the continued provision of community policing services to the residents.
