Teguise opens the call for stalls for its 2026 Christmas Market

The Teguise City Council has approved the Regulatory Bases for the operation and awarding of authorizations for sales stalls at the 2026 Villa de Teguise Christmas Market, a call aimed at artisans, merchants, and hospitality providers within the municipality. The agreement was adopted by the municipal Plenary in an ordinary session on July 8, 2026, unanimously, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 106, dated September 4, 2026 (reference 1822512).

The Christmas Market will be held from December 3 to 8, 2026, in the Plaza de la Constitución, the Plaza Clavijo y Fajardo, and the Plaza Maciot de Bethencourt of the Villa de Teguise. With this initiative, the Council seeks to promote economic activity and employment in the municipality, boosting trade and tourism and consolidating the Christmas market as a strategic tourist attraction.

Three categories and 35 stalls

The market will consist of stalls separated by categories according to the type of product offered:

• Category 1 – Handicrafts: 8 stalls, reserved for individuals registered in the Official Handicraft Registry of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
• Category 2 – Other sales products: 17 stalls for typical Christmas items, handcrafted Christmas sweets, decorations, nativity scenes, and gift items.
• Category 3 – Hospitality: 10 stalls offering gastronomic products, plus 5 mobile carts and 4 food trucks that do not require a wooden stall.

In categories 1 and 2, the production of items requiring an open flame will not be permitted, and remaining stalls from one category may be assigned to another if they are not filled.

Deadlines, deposits, and requirements

The deadline for submitting applications will be ten calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOP. Applications shall be submitted at the General Registry of the Teguise City Council or electronically via the electronic office (sede.teguise.es), and only one application per interested party will be admitted.

Successful applicants must pay a deposit of 150 euros and the public land occupation fee, set at 14.16 euros according to Fiscal Ordinance No. 07 of the City Council. Handicraft applicants must provide proof of their artisan card, while hospitality applicants must be registered in the IAE under headings 671 (restaurants), 672 (cafeterias), and 673 (cafes and bars), in addition to providing a sanitary registration and food handling certification.

Processing and awarding

The call for applications is part of file 3842/2026, which includes the tender for the design, organization, and execution services of the market, with a maximum budget of 206,005.00 euros plus 14,420.35 euros in IGIC (total 220,425.35 euros). The technical report was issued by María Inmaculada Armas Lasso, from the Tourism and Commerce Department.

An Evaluation Committee, chaired by the Councilor for Commerce, will study the applications and submit an award proposal to the Mayor-President. The resolution will be notified collectively on the municipal website and on the notice board, and a reserve list by category will be established if applications exceed the available spots.

The publication of these guidelines opens a direct opportunity for artisans, merchants, and hospitality providers from Lanzarote to participate in one of the most relevant commercial events of the Villa de Teguise during the Christmas campaign, with a market that aspires to consolidate itself as an economic engine and tourist attraction for the municipality.
