Talavera accelerates the recruitment process for ten Local Police positions

The Talavera de la Reina City Council has approved the urgent processing of the selection process to fill ten Local Police positions via open competition and examination, with the consequent reduction by half of all procedural deadlines, except those relating to the filing of appeals. The measure is decreed by the Mayor’s Office-Presidency through a resolution dated September 23, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the province of Toledo number 187, dated September 30, 2026, with official reference 2026.00004442. The agreement directly affects the applicants already admitted to the process and the force’s staff.

The resolution, which occupies page 71 of the gazette and bears insertion number I.- 4442, is issued by delegation of the Local Government Board of June 26, 2023, and is signed in Talavera de la Reina on September 25, 2026, by the Councilor for Finance and Internal Affairs, Jesús García-Barroso Corrochano. The text further orders that the resolution be made public on the Edicts Board, on the municipal website, and in the provincial gazette itself, “for general knowledge.”

The positions subject to the call are as follows:

• Ten Local Police positions, classified in group C1.
• Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale.
• Selection system: open competition and examination.
• Linked to the specific Public Employment Offer of the Local Police Force for the year 2026.

Reduction of deadlines with exception for appeals

The urgency agreement implies that all deadlines of the selection process are calculated at half. The only exception is the deadlines relating to the filing of appeals, which maintain their ordinary duration so as not to diminish the guarantees of the applicants.

The urgent processing is approved in a procedure that was already underway and therefore does not restart its count, but rather shortens the pending formalities. The resolution is published simultaneously on the Edicts Board, on the website of the Talavera de la Reina City Council, and in the Official Gazette of the province of Toledo.

Background: 344 applicants and three exclusions

The process has a prior history. The Delegated Department of Finance and Internal Affairs issued a resolution on August 18, 2026, approving the provisional list of admitted and excluded applicants, which is contained in administrative file number 00259/2026/PER of the Personnel Service of the General Secretariat. That announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the province of Toledo number 159, dated August 21, 2026, page 14, with insertion number I.- 3801 and official reference 2026.00003801.

The provisional list includes 344 applicants, of whom 341 appear as admitted and three as excluded. The causes for exclusion listed in the announcement are:

• Failure to prove representation in accordance with Article 5 of Law 39/2015.
• Failure to provide the required application according to Base 3.1 of the call.
• Failure to provide proof of payment of examination fees, except for the exemption provided in Base 3.1.

Excluded or omitted applicants had ten business days from the date of publication to remedy the defects; those who failed to do so would be considered to have withdrawn and definitively excluded. The list was presented with first name, surnames, and DNI number, in accordance with Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights.

On the same day, three other positions in the corps

The urgency is not limited to the open entry track. The bulletin of September 30 publishes three other resolutions from the Mayor’s Office-Presidency of Talavera de la Reina, all dated September 25, 2026, and signed by the same councilor, which also accelerate internal promotion:

• One position for Local Police Officer, group C1, competition-examination, Public Employment Offer 2026 (insertion I.- 4443, reference 2026.00004443).
• One position for Local Police Sub-inspector, group A2, competition-examination, Public Employment Offer 2026 (insertion I.- 4444, reference 2026.00004444).
• One position for Local Police Inspector, group A2, competition-examination, corresponding to the Public Employment Offer of 2024 (insertion I.- 4446, reference 2026.00004446).

In all three cases, an identical formula is applied: urgent processing and a reduction of deadlines by half, with the same exception for appeals.

Impact for candidates and for the corps

The practical effect is a compressed calendar: applicants for the ten Local Police positions will see the deadlines for the pending phases—from the correction of defects to the holding of the tests—cut in half, while appeals retain their full deadline. For the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, the measure seeks to close a call for ten officers and three middle managers as soon as possible, with a direct impact on reinforcing the corps’ staff in the city.
