Environmental grants of €150,000 for 34 entities in Cádiz

The Provincial Council of Cádiz has published in the Official Gazette of the Province the final resolution of the call for grants under competitive bidding for non-profit entities aimed at financing ecological transition projects during 2026. The agreement, included in Decree MAMBI-00200-2026, was issued on August 10, 2026, by Francisco Javier Vidal Pérez, Second Vice President and Deputy Delegate for the Area of Ecological Transition and Development for Citizenship, and awards a total of 150,000 euros among 34 beneficiary entities.

Structure of the call and distribution of the credit

The call, initially approved by Decree MAMBI-00104-2026, of April 6, is structured into two main lines with four sub-lines ranging from the circular economy to animal welfare. The total credit of 150,000 euros is distributed as follows:

• Sub-line 1.1 (Circular economy and sustainable management): €64,766.60 among 17 projects.
• Sub-line 1.2 (Environmental awareness and training): €19,533.40 among 5 projects.
• Sub-line 1.3 (Biodiversity, natural heritage and community gardens): €15,700 among 4 projects.
• Sub-line 1.4 (Animal welfare): €20,000 among 6 projects.
• Line 2 (Recovery and promotion of local breeds): €30,000 among 8 projects.

Circular economy and environment: the main beneficiaries

In the sub-line with the largest amount, 1.1, projects from very diverse initiatives stand out. FACUA Cádiz received €4,000 for the project Tu Orgánica Cuenta: Por un Municipio Circular (97 points); the Official College of Agricultural Technical Engineers and Graduates in Agricultural Engineering of Western Andalusia, another €4,000 for La Ciudad Saludable (95 points); and the Carriles Cultural Association, the maximum of €4,000 for Un remedio para mi medio II (98 points). Among the entities that obtained funding are also Ecologistas en Acción Sierra de Cádiz, with €2,570 for its project Sendas tradicionales de vida e historia para el futuro rural (93 points); the UPACESUR Atiende Foundation, with €4,000 for Red verde inclusiva: sostenibilidad, medio rural y economía circular desde la discapacidad; and APROPADIS 2.0, with €3,495.64 for Lectura Circular: Reutilizar, Incluir, Transformar.

Biodiversity, community gardens and natural heritage

Sub-line 1.3 allocates €15,700 to four projects. The Sociedad Gaditana de Historia Natural obtained the highest score (100 points) and €3,700 for the project Guardianes del Primilla: infraestructura ecológica para la biodiversidad en San Gaspar. The Asociación Hogar La Salle Jerez received €4,000 for Huertos Solidarios y Sostenibles (83 points); the Asociación de Vías Verdes de Andalucía (AVVA), €4,000 for the I Encuentro institucional para la conexión de la Vía Verde de la Sierra y la Vía Verde del Aceite; and the Sociedad para la Unidad Fundamental del Individuo, €4,000 for a project on the conservation of aquatic ecosystems.

Animal welfare: six shelters and associations subsidized

Sub-line 1.4, specifically dedicated to animal welfare, distributed €20,000 among six entities. The Asociación de Personas con Discapacidad TILES obtained the highest score (93 points) and €4,000 for U-NIDOS: Bienestar animal y diversidad funcional. The Asociación Protectora de Animales Khatucai received another €4,000 for the Gestión de colonias felinas en la provincia de Cádiz (92 points). The Asociación Colonias Felinas de Vejer obtained €4,000 for Cuidado y control de colonias felinas en Vejer de la Frontera (74 points). The Asociación Protectora de Animales Siempre Contigo, €4,000 for its CER method for feral cat colonies (70 points). The Asociación Protectora de Animales La Huella Verde had its score revised from 65 to 69 points following the appeal filed, maintaining the €2,500 subsidy for Segunda Oportunidad para los Animales Abandonados. Meanwhile, the Asociación de Defensa de Animales No Me Abandones de Jerez obtained €1,500 for its health and welfare project (77 points).

Cruz Roja Española and other relevant projects

Among the entities with the greatest social impact, Cruz Roja Española obtained €4,000 and 90 points for the project Energía y Cambio Climático, in the circular economy sub-line. The Fundación Vía Verde de la Sierra received €4,000 for the project Los buitres de la Vía Verde de la Sierra: biodiversidad y acción climática en la provincia de Cádiz (88 points). The Fundación Sustenta obtained another €4,000 for ELT – Elegimos la Tierra, a pilot project on climate theater and environmental awareness for educational centers.

Accumulation of appeals and resolution

The final resolution addresses the allegations submitted during the procedure. Those from the Vedruna Educación Foundation were dismissed for failing to provide the required documentation within the deadline, as were those from the Chiclana Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities La Fundación, as it was correctly classified without funding due to insufficient credit. In total, eight admitted applications did not receive funding due to the exhaustion of available credit in their respective lines. The beneficiary entities have a period of 10 days to submit the Annex accepting the subsidy.
