Subtel grants MPX Telecom FM radio concession in Chépica

The Undersecretariat of Telecommunications (Subtel), under the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, granted MPX Telecom SpA a sound broadcasting concession in Frequency Modulation for the locality of Chépica, Libertador General Bernardo O’Higgins Region. The measure was formalized through exempt decree No. 810, dated July 28, 2026, published in Section II (Particular Norms) of the Official Gazette No. 44,543, dated September 5, 2026, with reference CVE 2866130.
The concession enables the company to install, operate, and exploit a station on the frequency 96.5 MHz, with distinctive signal XQC-759, for a period of 25 years. The technical project presented by the concessionaire was approved and will be archived within the Undersecretariat.
Regulatory Framework and Background
The decision is framed within Law No. 18,168 of 1982, General Telecommunications Law, and the Sound Broadcasting Regulation (supreme decree No. 126 of 1997). The concession derives from a public tender called for the Third Quadrimester of 2022, published in the Official Gazette No. 43,354, dated September 15, 2022.
The process included the application from the interested party (Subtel entry No. 200,018, dated 11.23.2022), a draw held on July 9, 2025, and the prior assignment of the concession through exempt resolution No. 2,156, dated November 11, 2025, against which no claim was filed.
Technical Characteristics of the Station
The station will operate with the following technical parameters:
- Power: 250 W.
- Frequency: 96.5 MHz.
- Emission type: 180KF8EHF, with a maximum deviation of +75 kHz.
- Radiation pattern: directional, with a 2-element Yagi antenna and a maximum gain of 5 dBd.
- Polarization: vertical; radiation center height of 28 m.
- Service area: surface delimited by a field strength greater than or equal to 54 dB (µV/m).
The main studio will be located at Victoria No. 645, office 4, commune of Villa Alemana, Valparaíso Region, while the transmitting plant and the radiating system will be installed at 18 de Septiembre S/N, commune of Chépica, O’Higgins Region.
Deadlines and Obligations
The concessionaire must comply with the following deadlines, counted in business days from the publication of the decree in the Official Gazette:
- Start of works: 5 days.
- Completion of works: 15 days.
- Start of transmissions: 60 days.
The company may not initiate services until the works have been previously authorized by the Undersecretariat, and shall be subject to the payment of fees for the use of the radio spectrum. The decree was signed by order of the President of the Republic by the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Louis de Grange Concha, and transcribed by the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Romina Garrido Iglesias.
The arrival of a new local station expands the offering of broadcasting media in the commune of Chépica and its surroundings, strengthening informative pluralism and the community’s access to local content for the next two and a half decades.
