Subpesca authorizes Orizon to operate the Pionero I in the high seas
Por FactBox Admin

The Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture authorized Orizon S.A. to carry out extractive activities on the high seas with the vessel Pionero I, through exempt resolution No. 2.437. The decision was published as an extract in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile No. 44.579, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Section II, with official reference CVE 2888299.
The administrative act was issued by the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture, under the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, and appears signed in Valparaíso on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, by the Undersecretary Osvaldo Andrés Urrutia Silva. The publication in the official bulletin corresponds to an extract; therefore, the full text of the resolution must be consulted on the electronic domain sites of the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture and the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service.
Technical characteristics of the authorized vessel
The published extract details the nautical characteristics by which the vessel enabled for high seas extractive operations is identified:
- Distinctive signal: CD-2169.
- Port of registry: Valparaíso.
- Registration number: 3560.
- Tonnage length: 65.55 meters.
- Gross tonnage: 2,514.00 GRT (national).
- Beam: 15.20 meters.
- Depth: 9.20 meters.
This is an industrial-scale vessel, with slightly over 65 meters in length and a gross tonnage exceeding 2,500 gross register tons, registered in the port of Valparaíso with distinctive signal CD-2169.
Mandatory registration before starting operations
The authorization does not enable the vessel to operate immediately. The extract establishes that, prior to the start of the vessel’s operations, the applicant must register it in the National Industrial Fisheries Registry maintained by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service.
This registry constitutes the administrative step that links the authorization resolution with the effective oversight of the activity. Without prior registration, the vessel is not in a position to deploy extractive operations on the high seas, even if the authorization has already been issued and published.
Official publication and access to the full text
The extract appears in Section II of the bulletin, dedicated to decrees, resolutions, requests, and regulations of particular interest, on page 1 of the issue corresponding to Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The regulation bears the official title “Authorizes Orizon S.A. to carry out extractive activities on the high seas”.
The document further specifies that the full text of exempt resolution No. 2.437 will be published on the electronic domain sites of the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture and the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service, the entities responsible for both the issuance of the act and the administration of the industrial fisheries register.
The authorization is added to the set of resolutions of particular interest that the official bulletin publishes daily and which, in the fisheries sector, enable the operation of industrial vessels under specific technical and registration conditions.
Impact for the industrial fleet
The resolution enables Orizon S.A. to incorporate the vessel Pionero I into deep-sea extractive activities, a segment where tonnage capacity and length determine the volume of catch and the radius of operation. The requirement for registration in the National Industrial Fisheries Register conditions the effective start of operations and leaves the authorization subject to the procedure before the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service.
