Ascending auction: 49 lots of poplar wood in seven provinces.

The Public Infrastructure and Environment Company of Castilla y León, S.A. (SOMACYL) has tendered, through the procedure of upward auction on the base appraisal and at the highest price, the exploitation of 49 lots of poplar wood (Populus sp.) in towns in seven provinces of the Community. The notice, corresponding to file CAF-2026-01, is published in Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 158, of 17 August 2026.
The contracting authority is the public company attached to the Regional Ministry of Environment and Energy, based in Valladolid. The processing is ordinary and the award will be made by upward bidding, so that the successful bidder will be the one offering the highest price for each lot. The base tender budget, VAT excluded, amounts to nearly €5.74 million for the whole of the 49 lots, with individual values ranging from €14,516.98 for lot 48 to €360,101.50 for lot 24.
49 lots distributed across seven provinces
The timber harvests are distributed across 44 towns in the provinces of Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria and Zamora:
- Burgos (4 towns): Quintanilla del Agua y Tordueles, Quintanilla de Somuño, Santa María del Campo and Torrepadre.
- León (15): La Aldea del Puente, Cifuentes de Rueda, Devesa de Curueño, Gradefes, Posadilla de la Vega, Requejo de la Vega, Riego del Monte, Sahagún, Santa María de la Isla, Santiago del Molinillo, Santibañez de Porma, Vega de Almanza, Velilla de la Valduerna, Villafruela del Condado and Villamor de Órbigo.
- Palencia (10): Calahorra de Boedo, Carrión de los Condes, Cordovilla la Real, Herrera de Valdecañas, Moslares de la Vega, Saldaña, Santa Olaja de la Vega, Torquemada, Valbuena de Pisuerga and Villaeles de Valdavia.
- Salamanca (2): Alba de Tormes and Torresmenudas.
- Segovia (2): Languilla and Cedillo de la Torre.
- Soria (1): Matute de Almazán.
- Zamora (10): Barcial del Barco, Burganes de Valverde, Castrogonzalo, Castropepe, San Cristóbal de Entreviñas, Santa Colomba de las Carabias, Santa Marta de Tera, Santovenia del Esla, Uña de Quintana and Villaveza del Agua.
Deadlines and conditions of the auction
The execution period will be 11 months for all lots, counted from the day after the signing of the contract and including non-working periods, with one exception: lots 6 (Cifuentes de Rueda), 31 (Alba de Tormes) and 38 to 41 (Castrogonzalo) have a deadline of 31 December 2026.
- Submission of bids: until 2:00 PM on 3 September 2026.
- Opening of bids: 9 September 2026, at 11:00 AM.
- Obligation to maintain the bid: 2 months from the opening of the economic bids.
- Variants are not accepted, and no organized visit to the stands will be carried out.
- Provisional guarantee: not required. Final guarantee: 5% of the award price excluding VAT.
Certified timber and procedures
Part of the timber comes from certified forests and may be marketed with PEFC and FSC labels, using the codes PEFC/14-21-00008-AEN and AEN-FM/COC-000884, according to the table of characteristics of the harvesting in the specification of particular clauses.

- The notice is signed in Valladolid on 11 August 2026 by the Chief Executive Officer, José Manuel Jiménez Blázquez.
The auction opens an opportunity for the forestry sector and timber companies of Castilla y León, who may bid for individual lots in a poplar timber market with forest certification. With a base budget close to 5.74 million euros and award to the highest price, the operation reinforces the enhancement of the Community’s forests and its processing industry.
