SPRI agency adds 3 million euros to the Industrial Cybersecurity 2026 program
Por FactBox Admin

SPRI-Basque Business Development Agency has increased the budget of the Industrial Cybersecurity 2026 program call by 3,000,000 euros, reaching a total of 14,000,000 euros. The measure was signed by general director Jon Ansoleaga Ugarte in Bilbao on October 1, 2026, and was published in issue number 194 of the Official Gazette of the Basque Country on October 9, 2026, under official reference 2026/4201.
This program is a support line under the SPRI-Basque Business Development Agency, and its regulatory bases were approved by the resolution of April 27, 2026. These bases were published on May 18, 2026, in issue number 91 of the Official Gazette of the Basque Country. The purpose of the call is to support projects that significantly increase the protection, cybersecurity, and operational resilience of companies in the Basque Autonomous Community and their products, improve cybersecurity management systems, and promote alignment and certification with internationally recognized frameworks and standards.
High volume of applications caused the increase
According to the resolution, a large number of applications have been received since the bases were published. Therefore, the general director has decided to increase the economic resources allocated to the program’s objective to ensure the capacity to respond to the demand.
The amount of the increase and the economic status are as follows:
- Increase: 3,000,000 euros.
- Amount prior to this increase: 11,000,000 euros.
- Current total budget: 14,000,000 euros.
- Maximum limit approved by the bases: 16,000,000 euros, i.e., up to an additional 5,000,000 euros.
Expansion provided for in the bases
Section 5 of Article 3 of the program’s bases explicitly provided for this possibility: depending on the applications received and provided there is budget availability for the same purpose, the maximum budget amount could be expanded by an additional 5,000,000 euros, up to 16,000,000 euros. This resolution, therefore, has used the path established in those bases and has not approved any new regulations.
This expansion does not exhaust the limit: there is still room to add another 2,000,000 euros, provided the conditions of the bases are met and the corresponding resolution is published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country.
Publication does not open a new deadline
The resolution explicitly specifies that this publication does not open a new period for submitting new applications, nor does it restart the resolution period. Consequently, the increase applies to the applications already submitted and does not change the call’s calendar.
Likewise, the resolution orders the publication of the full text in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country to ensure full publicity.
Impact on companies
Industrial cybersecurity is a priority area for Basque industry, as the digitalization of production systems increases the attack surface. The budget increase means that more requests will be able to receive assistance, and companies will have a broader opportunity to align and certify their management systems with international standards.
The objective of the program is not only to strengthen technological protection, but also to guarantee operational resilience, in order to reduce the impact that interruptions and incidents have on company activities. In this context, the increase of 3,000,000 euros is a clear signal: demand has risen, and the organization has adapted resources to that demand.
