The Electoral Census Office of Albacete, under the Provincial Delegation of the National Statistics Institute, has called for the draw to select candidates for the Jury. The draw will be held at 9:30 a.m. on September 22, 2026, at the headquarters of the Provincial Court of Albacete, as stated in the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete number 105, dated September 9, 2026.
The call is made in compliance with the provisions of Article 13.2 of Organic Law 5/1995, of May 22, on the Jury Court, and Royal Decree 1398/1995, of August 4, 1995, which regulate the selection procedure for citizens called to integrate jury courts. The announcement, signed by the provincial delegate of the Electoral Census Office, Salvador Llopis Pérez, is communicated for the general knowledge of all affected citizens.
Who may be selected
The draw affects all citizens who, meeting the legal requirements, have been included in the electoral census lists and may be called to be part of a jury court. The selection is carried out by draw among the registered candidates, according to the procedure established in the current regulations.
- The event will take place on September 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
- It will be held at the headquarters of the Provincial Court of Albacete.
- The draw is governed by Organic Law 5/1995 and Royal Decree 1398/1995.
Legal framework of the procedure
Organic Law 5/1995, of May 22, on the Jury Court, establishes the legal regime of the jury institution within the criminal sphere, and its Article 13.2 regulates the time and manner in which the draw for the designation of candidates must be held. Royal Decree 1398/1995, of August 4, provides the regulatory development of aspects relating to the composition and functioning of the candidate lists.
The Electoral Census Office, the body responsible for preparing the lists, is responsible for convening and holding the public act of the draw, guaranteeing transparency and randomness in the selection of citizens who may be called to perform the function of a juror.
Relevance for citizens
The draw is a public procedure that determines which citizens of the province may be summoned to integrate the jury courts in the criminal proceedings held at the Provincial Court of Albacete. Participation in a jury constitutes a civic duty of Spanish citizens, and those who are designated must appear when summoned, unless legally provided grounds for excuse exist.
