Soria requests its public forest harvesting rights for 2027
Por FactBox Admin

The Territorial Environmental Service of the Junta de Castilla y León in Soria has published a request addressed to the owning entities of cataloged and consortium forests to communicate the harvests they wish to carry out during the year 2027. The announcement, signed on August 18, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Soria number 99, dated August 26, 2026, and sets a deadline of two months from its publication to submit the documentation.
The call responds to the need to draw up the Annual Harvest Plans that shall govern the coming year in the Cataloged Forests of Public Utility. The objective is to address the requests of the owners as long as they are compatible with the proper conservation of the forests, and in the case of non-cataloged consortium forests, to assess the compatibility of the requested harvests.
Cataloged and consortium forests
For Cataloged Forests of Public Utility, whether they are part of a consortium or not, the Circular that will shortly be sent to the owning entities will be followed. In contrast, non-cataloged consortium forests in which a harvest is desired must send the list of harvests to the Service’s Forest Management Area, stating the following details:
- Name and number of the forest and the municipality in which it is located.
- Period of the harvest.
- Method of disposal (auction, distribution, etc.).
- Annual or multiple years.
Specific data by type of harvest
In addition to the general data, owners must specify the technical information corresponding to each type of harvest:
- Timber: number of trees, cubic meters, and species.
- Firewood: number of steres and species.
- Pastures: number of head of each class of livestock.
- Other harvests: any specific details they consider appropriate for better understanding.
Deadline and effects of silence
The documentation must be submitted within the period of two months starting from the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province. In the case of Consortium Forests, if no request for compatibility is received within that period, it will be understood that the owners do not wish to carry out any harvest during the year 2027.
The announcement is signed by the Head of the Territorial Environmental Service, acting in capacity, Santiago De La Torre Vadillo, and approved by the Territorial Delegate, Yolanda De Gregorio Pachón.
The call for applications is key for the city councils and local entities of the province, which hold a large part of the public utility forests of Soria and depend on these timber, firewood, and pasture harvests as a source of income and land management. Meeting the deadline ensures that their requests are taken into account in the forest planning for the next fiscal year.
