Seville opens 100,000 euros in grants for Sacred Art craft workshops
Por FactBox Admin

The Seville City Council has opened a public call for grants endowed with 100,000 euros for the promotion and support of entrepreneurship in the city’s Sacred Art sector. The measure was approved by the agreement of October 9, 2026, of the Governing Board of the city of Seville and is published as extract no. 222975 in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville no. 202, of October 19, 2026, with reference BOP-SE-2026-202010. Applications may be submitted within 15 business days starting from the day following said publication.
The call is processed under a competitive bidding regime and is supported by the General Ordinance approving the regulatory bases for grants awarded by the Seville City Council, of June 16, 2005 (published in the BOP of July 14, 2005). The extract is disseminated through the National Grants Database with the identifier BDNS 935451, in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17.
Two lines: workshop digitalization and generational renewal
The objective is to regulate aid aimed at artisanal micro-SMEs specializing in Sacred Art to improve their degree of digitalization and facilitate generational renewal, fostering the entrepreneurial spirit and the continuity of these trades. The call finances two types of actions:
- Line 1: modernization, digitalization, and improvement of the competitiveness of workshops, with actions for professionalization, digitalization of processes, brand improvement, and market positioning.
- Line 2: promotion of generational renewal through the employment of unemployed youth under 30 years of age, with contracts for obtaining professional practice with a minimum duration of six months and full-time hours.
Micro-enterprise, activity in Seville, and Craft Registry
Beneficiaries may be natural or legal persons, communities of assets, civil societies, and other legally constituted economic entities without legal personality that meet three basic conditions:
- Be defined as a micro-enterprise according to Annex I of Regulation (EU) no. 651/2014, i.e., fewer than 10 persons employed and an annual turnover or annual balance sheet not exceeding 2 million euros.
- Be registered under a heading of the Economic Activities Tax and carry out the activity within the municipality of Seville before the application deadline expires.
- Have a current registration in the Craft Registry of Andalusia in one of the trades associated with Sacred Art.
The admitted trades, identified by their COAA code, are: application of gilding (005), embroidery (012), gold embroidery (014), wax work (024), rope and cord making (032), cabinetry (038), production of Holy Week capirotes (054), production of gilding (059), lace making (060), bobbin lace (061), bobbin lace in gold and silver thread (062), wigs and hairpieces (096), artistic stained glass (106), sculpture (111), fringing (118), religious imagery (126), goldsmithing (138), passementerie (141), restoration (151), wood carving (159), and stone and marble carving (161).
75 percent advance payment
The maximum amount of aid per beneficiary is set according to the amounts in section 6.2 of the call for each line. Regarding payment, the advance payment modality provided for in Article 18 of the Grant Regulations of the City Council of Seville and in Article 34 of the General Grant Law is applied: upon the issuance of the award resolution, 75 percent of the grant is processed, and the remaining 25 percent is paid at the end of the execution, following the justification of all actions included in the application.
The extract was signed in Seville on October 13, 2026, by the Deputy Mayor Delegated for the Area of Cartuja, Innovative Parks, Mobility, Economy, and Trade, Álvaro Jesús Pimentel Siles.
The call reaches the Sevillian brotherhood and artisanal sector in the middle of the countdown to the Holy Week campaign, with a network of embroidery, goldsmithing, and imagery workshops that is highly fragmented and small in size. The aid covers two of its main weaknesses: the lack of digitalization and online marketing in family workshops, and the absence of generational renewal in trades with low youth incorporation. The deadline is short—15 business days—so interested workshops must verify as soon as possible their registration in the Craft Registry of Andalusia and their registration in the IAE (Economic Activities Tax).
