Serrejón opens 600-euro grants to promote sports in 2026

The Serrejón City Council has approved the call for grants aimed at the promotion, development, and encouragement of sports in the municipality during the year 2026, under a competitive bidding process. The call, signed by the Mayor-President Nélida Martín Hernández via Resolution of the Mayoralty-Presidency dated September 9, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres number 177, dated September 16, 2026, with reference BOP-2026-4326.
The grants are aimed at individual athletes registered as residents in Serrejón who practice individual specialties and participate in official competitions, with the objective of covering the expenses generated by their sporting activities. The initiative is part of the Strategic Grant Plan of the Serrejón City Council 2025-2027, approved in the plenary session of March 27, 2025, and published in BOP number 67, dated April 7, 2025, and complies with Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies.
Allocation and amount of grants
The call has a total credit of 1,800.00 euros, allocated in budget application 341.48215 of the Municipal Budget for 2026. Each beneficiary may receive an individual grant of 600.00 euros, and the total amount granted may in no case exceed the available credit.
- Total credit of the call: 1,800.00 euros.
- Individual grant per beneficiary: 600.00 euros.
- If the credit proves insufficient, grants will be awarded in strict order of application submission.
Requirements and beneficiaries
Athletes registered as residents in Serrejón who meet the following requirements, proven by the end of the submission period, may apply for the grants:
- Reside in the municipality with a minimum uninterrupted seniority of five years.
- Hold a valid federation license.
- Not be subject to any prohibition from obtaining the status of a beneficiary of public grants.
Beneficiaries must justify expenses, publicize the grant awarded, and incorporate the City Council’s corporate image on their clothing and equipment. Applications shall be submitted electronically through the City Council’s electronic office (https://serrejon.sedelectronica.es), within a period of 15 business days from the day following the publication of the call summary in the BOP.
Evaluation criteria
Applications will be scored by the Evaluation Commission, composed of the First Deputy Mayor, a sports promoter from the Integral Association of Municipalities of Campo Arañuelo, a municipal administrative officer, and the Secretary of the Corporation. Points are awarded based on participation and results in competitions between September 1, 2024, and the date of application:
- World Championships: 50 points; Spanish: 40; Extremadura: 30; local: 10.
- World Championship Medals: 100 points; gold: 80; silver: 70; bronze: 60; finalist (4th to 8th): 50.
- Federative license via a club in the municipality: 20 points; via an Extremaduran club: 10.
- High-performance or high-level athlete: between 5 and 20 points depending on the category.
Eligible expenses (accommodation, subsistence, and travel for official competitions) must be incurred between January 1 and December 15, 2026, and justified before December 20, 2026. The maximum period to resolve and notify the procedure is six months from the publication of the call.
The call represents direct support for local athletes from Serrejón, who will be able to finance their participation in official competitions and have their trajectory recognized. With this line of aid, the municipality reinforces its commitment to sport as a driver of values, health, and the projection of Serrejón’s name, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
