Seguridad eleva a 15 millones la recompensa por Axel González en Chaco

The Ministry of National Security increased the reward from 10 to 15 million pesos for those who provide useful data to locate Axel Alejandro González, whose disappearance is being investigated by Fiscal Team No. 14 of Resistencia, in the province of Chaco. The measure was officialized through a resolution of that ministry published in the First Section of the Official Gazette of the Argentine Republic on October 20, 2026, under issue number 77628/26.

The regulation provides for the increase of the reward previously offered by RESOL-2026-508-APN-MSG, dated June 4, 2026, which had set the amount at TEN MILLION PESOS ($10,000,000). Article 1 of the now-published resolution establishes a total sum of FIFTEEN MILLION PESOS ($15,000,000) for those persons who, without having intervened in the criminal acts, provide information that allows the young man to be located.

The legal framework invoked is Article 3 of Law No. 26,538, which empowers the implementing authority—on its own or at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office—to offer the reward and its payment, along with Articles 1, 2, and 3 of Annex II of RESOL-2019-828-APN-MSG, which enable the head of the ministry to modify the amounts according to the complexity and gravity of the crime under investigation.

The request from the Chaco prosecutor’s office

The resolution details that Case File No. 15708/2026-1, titled “Gómez María Inés re/ report of missing person,” linked to the search for González’s whereabouts, is being processed before Fiscal Team No. 14 of the city of Resistencia, led by provisional prosecutor Julieta Arolfo.

According to the official text, that fiscal team requested the increase of the amount via Official Letter No. 1919, dated September 11, 2026, addressed to the attorney general of the province of Chaco, Jorge Omar Canteros. Days later, on September 15, Dr. Hugo D. Matkovich, head of the Ministry of Security of the Province of Chaco, formally requested the National Rewards Program to increase the offer.

The preamble further states that, among the facts under investigation, the hypothesis is considered that González’s disappearance may be linked to the commission of a crime against physical integrity.

How to provide information and who pays

Those who have information may contact the toll-free line 134 of the National Rewards Program, under the National Directorate of Regulations and Relations with the Judicial Powers and Public Ministries of the Ministry of National Security.

Payment will be made at that ministry or at a location designated by the minister, following a report from the representative of the intervening authority regarding the merit of the information provided, in order to preserve the identity of the informant. The resolution also entrusts the Institutional Communication Directorate with the dissemination of the operative part in written, radio, and television media of national circulation, and instructs the Federal Police and Security Forces to publish the poster identified as IF-2026-95471584-APN-DNNYRPJYMP#MSG, which is part of the measure.

The increase in the reward comes five months after the last offer and more than five months since the young man was last seen, in a case that the resolution itself links to the possible commission of a crime against physical integrity. The record figure for this case seeks to increase the flow of calls to 134 and sustain the search for the whereabouts being carried out by the Chaco judiciary.
