Sarria announces a vacancy for an interim multiple services assistant

The Sarria City Council announces the selection of a multi-service assistant as an interim civil servant, for a period of 6.5 months, funded by the 2026 Provincial Council Cooperation Plan with Municipalities. The call was approved by the mayor, Claudio Melquiades Garrido Martínez, through Decree 2026-1360, dated August 28, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 201, dated September 3, 2026 (reference R. 2358).

The deadline for submitting applications is 5 calendar days, counting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the official gazette. The hiring is part of program B.3-Employment Reinforcement Program of the 2026 Provincial Council Cooperation Plan with Municipalities (BOP no. 4, of January 7, 2026), intended for the hiring of personnel for the execution of works and minimum mandatory services of municipal competence.

Object and functions of the position

The selected person will perform the functions of a multi-service assistant in the Works department of the Sarria City Council. Among the tasks outlined in the bases are:

• Masonry and painting.
• Public works.
• General maintenance tasks.
• Road cleaning tasks.
• Those that are required at any given moment and are habitually performed by municipal personnel.

Requirements for applicants

To participate in the selection, applicants must meet, among others, the following requirements:

• Be Spanish or a national of a European Union member state, or a foreigner with a residence permit in Spain.
• Be unemployed or in a situation of employment improvement, a specific requirement demanded by the employment promotion program of the Provincial Council of Lugo that finances the hiring.
• Be at least 16 years old and not have reached the retirement age.
• Possess a primary education certificate.
• Accredit knowledge of the Galician language (Celga 1 or equivalent) or pass the corresponding exercise.

Selection process and employment pool

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system, with a phase valued up to a maximum of 20 points, consisting of two mandatory and eliminatory exercises:

• First exercise (practical): a test related to the tasks of the position, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, graded from 0 to 20 points, requiring a score of 10 to pass.
• Second exercise (Galician language): a written translation test, graded as pass or fail, from which persons who accredit knowledge of Galician are exempt.

Persons who do not obtain a position will become part of an employment pool, which will be used to fill the position in case of temporary disability leave, maternity, vacations, resignation, or accumulation of tasks. The order in the pool will be determined by the final qualification obtained in the selection process.

The call represents a job opportunity of interest for the unemployed people of the municipality, as it is a position funded by provincial cooperation funds and specifically aimed at those who are in a situation of unemployment or employment improvement.
