Sara Venning reappointed to Electricity Supply Board for three years

The Government has reappointed Ms Sara Venning as a member of the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) for a further three-year term, with effect from 14 December 2026. The appointment was announced in the official notice published in Iris Oifigiúil No. 74 of Tuesday, 15 September 2026, under reference [G-1A].

The notice was signed by John Callinan, Secretary General to the Government, and dated 9 September 2026 in Dublin. It confirms that the reappointment was made by the Government and takes effect from 14 December 2026.

The Electricity Supply Board

The Electricity Supply Board is the State-owned electricity utility responsible for the generation, transmission and supply of electricity across Ireland. As a commercial semi-State body, its board of directors is appointed by the Government, and membership terms are typically fixed at three years.

Board members are appointed to provide governance oversight of the utility’s operations, which span electricity generation, network infrastructure and retail supply. The reappointment ensures continuity in the leadership of one of the State’s most strategically important energy companies.
