Sanxenxo awards 40,000 euros to non-profit cultural associations

The Autonomous Body Terra de Sanxenxo has approved the final resolution for the awarding of grants to associations and non-profit entities that develop cultural activities in the 2026 financial year, with a total amount of 40,000 euros. The decision, which concludes the administrative process, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) no. 167, dated September 1, 2026, under file 256/2026.

The regulatory bases for this call were published in BOPPO no. 102, dated June 1, 2026. On August 11, the provisional award resolution was issued, opening a period of 10 business days for the submission of allegations. As none were submitted, and in accordance with the 9th base of the regulatory bases, the provisional proposal acquired a definitive character, following the proposal of the Councilwoman for Culture and Events and the audit of the Intervening Body.

Distribution among festivals, folklore, and crafts

The grants are distributed among eight entities that presented projects linked to traditional festivals, folklore, crafts, and cultural activities. The amount granted to each entity was:

• Asociación Comisión de Festas San Tomé de Gondar — XVII Youth Festival of Gondar: 3,408.19 € (58 points).
• Asociación de Baile e Gaita Os Gatiños de Portonovo — XXIX Os Gatiños Folklore Festival: 4,407.14 € (75 points).
• Asociación Cultural Soalleira de Dorrón — IX Muiñada: 2,788.80 € (64 points) and Cultural Exchange: 3,440.00 € (65 points).
• Asociación Cultural San Cayetano de Arra — XXV Craft Fair and evening: 4,230.86 € (72 points) and XI Rapid Painting Contest: 3,584.48 € (61 points).
• Asociación Cultural Abiñadoira — XXXI Cultural Days: 3,282.10 € (69 points) and XXXI Pilgrimage: 4,113.33 € (70 points).
• Asociación Amigos da Dorna de Portonovo — Improvement and socialization of the dorna Nai Surfeira: 3,025.27 € (70 points) and LuDORNAteca: 3,878.28 € (66 points).
• Asociación Estudos Locais de Sanxenxo (AELOS) — XVI Sanxenxo in History Days: 700.00 € (65 points).
• Asociación Cultural San Pedro de Bordóns — XV Farmer’s Festival: 3,141.56 € (64 points).

One rejected application

Within the same call, the application submitted by the Asociación Comisión de Festas San Tomé de Gondar for the project “Discover the Island of Ons” was rejected, in accordance with the specifications in the second section of the report. The remaining beneficiary entities will receive the granted amounts to finance their cultural activities throughout the year.

Appeals against the resolution

The final resolution ends the administrative process. A contentious-administrative appeal may be filed against it or, optionally and as a prior step, a request for reversal (recurso de reposición) before the same body that issued it. The request for reversal may be submitted within one month from the notification, in accordance with Article 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on common administrative procedure; the contentious-administrative appeal, within two months, according to Article 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13.

The granting of these grants strengthens the cultural associative fabric of Sanxenxo, allowing local entities to keep traditional festivals, folklore festivals, craft fairs, and cultural revitalization activities alive, in a municipal commitment to grassroots culture and citizen participation.
