Santiago seeks 12 firefighter drivers and publishes provisional lists

The Santiago de Compostela City Council published on 17 August 2026 in the Official Bulletin of the Province of A Coruña (No. 155) the provisional lists of admitted and excluded applicants for two selection processes for the coverage of 12 firefighter/driver positions. The resolutions, dated 12 August, were signed by the Councillor for Economy and Finance, Personnel, Procurement and Modernisation of Local Administration, Manuel César Vila.

These are two different procedures: one call for 3 firefighter/driver positions (subgroup C2) and another for 9 specialist firefighter/driver positions (subgroup C1), both through the free turn and by competitive examination. Applicants now have a period of 10 working days to correct the deficiencies detected in their applications.

Two selection processes, two job offers

The first of the calls corresponds to the 2023 Public Employment Offer and provides for the permanent filling of 3 firefighter/driver positions, from the special administration scale, subgroup C2. The general bases were published in BOP No. 187 of 30 September 2022 and the specific bases in BOP No. 82 of 5 May 2026, with corrections of errors in numbers 86 and 87 of the same bulletin.

The second call is covered by the 2025 Public Employment Offer and refers to 9 specialist firefighter/driver positions, subgroup C1. Both processes were called by Resolution of the Mayor of 28 April 2026, published in the Official State Bulletin No. 134, of 2 June 2026.

Who can amend their applications

The provisional lists identify the most common defects among excluded applicants:

• Not proving payment of the fee
• Not submitting Annex II or doing so incompletely
• Not submitting the medical certificate or submitting an invalid one
• C+E driving licence expired or not proven
• Not proving the required qualification
• Not passing the Galician language test (Celga 3 for subgroup C2 and Celga 4 for subgroup C1)
• Expired ID card

Excluded persons who correct these defects within the established period may be definitively admitted to the selection process. Those who do not do so will be definitively excluded.

Files and amendment period

The selection process for the 3 C2 positions bears file number 2026/1628P, while that of the 9 C1 positions is registered under file 2026/1631B. Both require documentation to be submitted through the electronic headquarters of the Santiago de Compostela City Council.

Applicants who detect errors in the recording of their personal data may also state this within the same period of 10 working days, counted from the day following publication in the BOP. This period ends on 1 September 2026.

Impact on the emergency service

The hiring of these 12 firefighter-driver positions represents a significant reinforcement of the emergency service of the municipality of Santiago de Compostela, which has its own fire brigade. The selection processes, initiated in 2026, seek to consolidate the workforce by permanently filling positions that were part of the public employment offers for 2023 and 2025.
