Santiago approves extraordinary credit of 3.4 million euros

The Santiago de Compostela City Council has definitively approved the extraordinary credit budget modification file 2026-CREXT-02, for an amount of 3,409,270.12 euros, financed by the liquid treasury surplus for general expenses of the 2025 financial year. The decision was adopted by the Plenary of the municipal Corporation in an extraordinary session on July 31, 2026, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 167, on September 2, 2026, under announcement number 2026/5670.

The definitive approval occurred after the expiration of the fifteen-business-day public exhibition period without any claims being filed. The announcement, signed on August 28, 2026, by the delegated councillor for Economy, Finance, Personnel, Procurement, and Modernization of Local Administration, Manuel César Vila, provides a summary by chapters of the budget once the modification has been incorporated.

Legal framework and processing

The file is processed under Article 177.2 in relation to 169.1 of the consolidated text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by RDL 2/2004, of March 5. During the public exhibition period, the file was available on the notice board of the municipal electronic office and at the Economic Services of the Council, at rúa Galeras nº 5.

The modification expands the municipal budget for the 2026 financial year, which now totals revenues of 204,702,501.04 euros and total expenses of 203,706,152.18 euros.

Distribution of credit by chapters

The extraordinary credit is distributed among the following chapters of the expenditure statement:

• Current expenses on goods and services: +2,899,185.00 euros.
• Real investments: +462,418.49 euros.
• Personnel expenses: +18,480.00 euros.
• Current transfers: +16,998.00 euros.

In the revenue statement, the modification is reflected entirely in Chapter VIII (financial assets), which increases from 36,841,846.08 to 40,251,116.20 euros, while current and capital operations remain unchanged.

Budgetary impact

With the incorporation of this credit, the total non-financial expenditure operations amount to 200,588,674.57 euros, while financial revenue operations reach 51,006,494.59 euros. The operation does not alter the budgetary balance, as it is financed entirely by the liquid treasury surplus for general expenses of the 2025 financial year.

The publication in the official gazette finalizes the expansion of the municipal budget, which will allow the Council to meet the extraordinary expenses planned for the current financial year.
