Santander publishes the provisional list of admitted candidates for nine Library Assistant positions

Por FactBox Admin

The Santander City Council has published the provisional list of admitted and excluded applicants for the competitive examination to permanently fill nine Library Assistant positions. The resolution, adopted by the Department of Human Resources, Quality, and Heritage on August 17, 2026, appears in this Monday, August 24, issue of the Official Gazette of Cantabria (BOC no. 162).

The nine positions belong to the Special Administration scale, Special Services subscale, and Special Duties class, Group C, subgroup C2, vacancies within the council’s civil servant staff. Eight are filled via the open competition and one via the quota reserved for persons with disabilities, through the competitive examination system. The call for applications was published in the Official State Gazette no. 105, on April 30, 2026.

Call Figures

The provisional list shows a high number of applicants, with a clear female majority among those admitted:

  • 396 applicants admitted in the open competition.
  • 30 applicants excluded in the open competition.
  • 18 applicants admitted in the quota reserved for disabilities.
  • 3 applicants excluded in the disability quota.

Causes for Exclusion

The provisional exclusions correspond to six specific reasons set out in the rules of the call:

  • Failure to provide the application in the official model or providing it unsigned.
  • Failure to provide the ID (DNI) or presenting it incomplete.
  • Failure to prove payment of examination fees or unemployment status according to the third rule.
  • Submission of the application after the deadline.
  • Failure to prove compliance with the requirements for access to the public service (art. 57.2 of RDL 5/2015).
  • Failure to prove disability status.

Correction Period

Applicants who have been excluded or not included in any of the lists have a period of ten days, counting from the day following the publication in the Official Gazette of Cantabria, to correct, where possible, the errors or defects that led to their lack of admission.

Those who have been provisionally excluded for failing to justify their unemployment status may correct this by providing a certificate from the Public Employment Service proving they were in said situation throughout the entire application period, i.e., from May 1 to May 20, 2026, both inclusive. The publication of the resolution shall be decisive for the deadlines regarding possible challenges or appeals.

The resolution was signed in Santander on August 18, 2026, by the delegated councilor for Human Resources, Quality, and Heritage, Daniel Portilla Fariña.

The publication of this provisional list represents a decisive step in a process of interest to hundreds of applicants and will strengthen the municipal cultural services of the Cantabrian capital. Once the corrections are resolved and the appeal deadlines have expired, the city council will be able to call for the competitive examination phase to permanently fill these nine positions within Santander’s library network.
