Santa Elena subsidizes books and school supplies for the 2026/2027 school year

The Santa Elena City Council (Jaén) has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Jaén number 180, dated September 16, 2026, the summary of the call for school supply grants for the 2026/2027 academic year, aimed at covering the costs of books, educational materials, and clothing for students enrolling for the first time at the Carlos III public school. The aid can reach up to 200.00 euros per student and is granted on a competitive basis.

The call, signed by Mayor Ramón Coloma González on September 14, 2026, is processed in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and its full text is available in the National Grants Database (BDNS, identifier 929246). The substantive regulation refers to the Regulatory Ordinance for Grants of the Santa Elena City Council, published in the provincial BOP on November 16, 2020, number 220.

Purpose and Beneficiaries

The purpose of the grant is to guarantee equal opportunities in access to education, regulating a system of study aids to compensate families for expenses derived from the development of the school year and, especially, the acquisition of books, educational materials, and clothing for students enrolling for the first time in the municipality’s educational center.

Those who hold parental authority, guardianship, or curatorship of the students, as well as those who have legal custody of the minor, may apply. The final beneficiaries are the students themselves, represented by their legal guardians.

Amount and Grant Regime

The amount granted per student may reach, without exceeding, one hundred percent of the justified expenses for the acquisition of books, clothing, and educational materials, with a maximum limit of 200.00 euros per student.

Deadline and Documentation

Interested parties must submit their applications with the necessary documentation within a period of 20 business days, which will begin to count from the day following the date of publication in the Official Gazette of the Province. The documentation to be provided is that established in article 7 of the Regulatory Ordinance, and the verification and control of the applications comply with the provisions of articles 12 and 13 of the same regulation.

The call for applications directly benefits families in the municipality of Santa Elena, who will see a reduction in the costs of starting the school year for students entering the Carlos III public school for the first time—a significant support in a small municipality where educational expenses represent a substantial burden for households.
