Santa Cruz opens public information for ten padel courts in El Draguillo

Por FactBox Admin

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has opened the public information process for file 2142/2025, initiated at the request of Arigo 98, S.L., which requests an urban planning license for the construction of ten provisional padel courts, a prefabricated changing room module, and complementary equipment on a plot located at 18 El Draguillo Street, in the Southwest District. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, number 106, dated September 4, 2026, with reference 1793234.

The opening of the process responds to the resolution issued by the Counselor-Director of the Municipal Urban Planning Management dated August 27, 2026. The file is submitted for public information for a period of twenty days, so that any interested party may examine it and submit any allegations they deem appropriate.

A provisional project in the Southwest

The initiative contemplates the installation of a temporary sports complex in the Southwest District of the capital, one of the residential areas with the highest growth in Santa Cruz. The project includes:

  • Ten padel courts of a provisional nature.
  • A prefabricated changing room module.
  • Complementary equipment for the operation of the facilities.

As it is a provisional license, the action is proposed as a temporary occupation of the plot, conditioned by the evolution of the urban planning of the area.

Deadline and form of allegations

During the exhibition period, the file may be consulted at the municipal offices and through the City Council’s electronic headquarters. Interested parties may submit allegations within the twenty-day period, counting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the official gazette.

The procedure is processed in compliance with the provisions of Article 25.4 of Decree 182/2018, of December 26, which approves the Regulation for the Intervention and Protection of Urban Legality of the Canary Islands, which regulates the opening of public information in urban planning license files.

Impact on the neighborhood

The opening of this process gives a voice to the residents of the Southwest District before the City Council rules on the license. The installation of ten padel courts on a plot on El Draguillo Street may alter land use and neighborhood life; therefore, the allegations submitted during the twenty days of exhibition will be decisive for the final decision on a project that, if approved, would provide the area with a new temporary sports offering.
