Sant Joanet initially approves its Urban Agenda 2030 and its Local Action Plan
Por FactBox Admin

The Sant Joanet City Council has agreed upon the initial approval of the Urban Agenda 2030 and its Local Action Plan, a planning instrument that will define the urban, environmental, and sustainability strategy of the municipality in the coming years. The decision was made public through an announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Valencia, number 168, dated September 2, 2026, with the official reference 2026/10813.
The Urban Agenda 2030 is part of the strategy promoted by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda and its translation to the local level, which urges municipalities to align their urban development policies with the objectives of sustainability, social cohesion, and quality of life. With this agreement, Sant Joanet joins the network of localities providing their planning with its own roadmap for the next decade.
A long-term planning instrument
The initial approval represents the first step of the administrative procedure, which will continue with the public information and objections process before its final approval. The Local Action Plan specifies the actions and projects that will give substance to the agenda, defining priorities and deadlines for their execution.
Among the areas that typically structure these documents are:
- Land use planning and urban regeneration.
- Sustainable mobility and energy efficiency.
- Climate change adaptation and resource management.
- Social cohesion and the improvement of public services.
A municipality committed to sustainability
Sant Joanet, a municipality in the Ribera Alta region, is thus directing its growth toward a more balanced model that is respectful of the environment. The approval of the agenda will allow the council to access financing and cooperation programs linked to European and national urban strategies, which prioritize municipalities with approved action plans.
The announcement, published in the municipalities section of the gazette, is available for public consultation and for the submission of any objections deemed appropriate during the public exhibition period.
Relevance for residents
The Urban Agenda 2030 is not a mere technical document: its objectives will translate into concrete decisions regarding public space, housing, mobility, and municipal services in the coming years. Citizen participation in the objections process will be key to ensuring that the final plan reflects the real needs of the residents of Sant Joanet.
