Sant Feliu approves the renovation of the Monastery for 9.2 million euros

The Plenary of the Sant Feliu de Guíxols City Council approved on September 15, 2026, the renovation and expansion project for the Monastery building, with a total contract execution budget of 9,197,990.32 euros, VAT included. The agreement is now made public in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona no. 184, of September 24, 2026, in edict 8168 (CVE BOP-2026_0_184_8168), for the purposes of its enforceability. This is the highest capital investment of the edition.

The publication is made in accordance with article 38.2 of the Regulations for works, activities, and services of local entities, approved by Decree 179/95, of June 13. The associated municipal file is 67102026000005 / aps and the plenary agreement bears the reference PLE2026000017.

The project and its drafting

The object of the approval is the separate section of the basic and executive project for the renovation and expansion of the Monastery building of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The technical and administrative details contained in the edict are as follows:

• Drafting by architect María Fuensanta Nieto de la Cierva, member of COAM no. 6649.
• Representative of the company NIETO SOBEJANO ARQUITECTOS, S.L.P.
• Documentation submitted on July 3, 2026, with entry registry no. E2026017178.
• Total contract execution budget for the projected works: 9,197,990.32 euros, VAT included.

Budgetary support

The renovation of the Monastery has a parallel economic process already underway. The same Plenary, in an extraordinary and urgent session on September 15, 2026, initially approved the Credit Supplement and Extraordinary Credit that includes the allocation destined for the Monastery.

• Exp. 3 CE003/2026 Credit Supplement Multipurpose Space (X2026038580).
• Published in the BOP of Girona no. 181, of September 21, 2026, edict 8082 (CVE BOP-2026_0_181_8082).

This file is open for a period of 15 business days, counted from the day after publication, so that interested parties may consult it at the Economic Services Offices of the City Council and submit claims. If none are submitted, the initial agreement will become final without the need for a new plenary agreement.

Deadlines and means of appeal

Against the resolution approving the project, which ends the administrative route, interested parties have two options:

• Contentious-administrative appeal before the Court of First Instance of Girona, contentious-administrative section, within a period of two months from the day following publication.
• Appeal for reversal, of an optional nature, before the same body that issued it, within a period of one month from the day following publication.

The edict was signed by Mayor Carles Motas López on September 16, 2026.

The renovation and expansion of the Monastery is the most significant heritage investment of this edition and directly affects the construction sector and the tourism fabric of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. With the executive project already completed and the budgetary support being processed, the bidding calendar for the works will open once the claim and appeal deadlines are resolved.
