Por FactBox Admin

The Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council has approved the call for grants for sports entities that develop programs to promote minority sports during the year 2026, with a maximum budget of 150,000 euros. The agreement was made by the Mayor’s Office on July 28, 2026, and the edict was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB) on August 31, 2026, with official reference CVE 202610128796.
The call, promoted by the Sports Service, aims to support entities that practice sports considered minority in the city due to their number of practitioners and structure, but which are a driver of grassroots sports. These include handball, roller hockey, underwater hockey, water polo, and swimming, disciplines that fall below the range of the most practiced sports in the municipality, such as basketball and football.
Purpose and aid lines
The grants are intended for expenses incurred by entities for the promotion of these sports and the development of sports programs and activities during the year 2026 in the municipality. The aid is directed toward three different lines of activities:
- Sports promotion of minority sports: organization of sessions, courses, tournaments, championships, camps, and events that promote grassroots sports, women’s sports, and social cohesion.
- Promotion of minority school sports during non-teaching hours: sports initiation activities and school sports games promoted by the City Council.
- Promotion of federated women’s sports: federated competition projects in which female participants represent at least 50%.
The maximum budget amounts to 150,000 euros, charged to budget item 104 3410 48012. The amount to be granted to each entity will be calculated by dividing the budget by the sum of points awarded by the Qualifying Commission, chaired by the Councilor for Sports.
Requirements and submission deadline
Non-profit entities that are legally constituted, registered in the City Council’s registry of entities and in the registry of sports entities of the Catalan Sports Council, which develop their activity in Sant Adrià de Besòs and are up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations, may be beneficiaries.
Applications must be submitted electronically to the General Registry of the City Council through the electronic office, using a digital certificate. The submission period is 20 days starting from the day after the publication of the announcement in the BOPB. The documentation includes the standardized application, certificates of being up to date with payments, the activity project with the calendar and budget, and bank details.
Evaluation, payment, and justification
The assessment scale prioritizes the payment of rent for activities continued throughout the year, with a maximum of 60 points, followed by the specific promotion of minority sports and innovation for the city’s dynamics. The payment will be made in full and as an advance payment, once the Governing Board approves the subsidy, and the beneficiaries will be exempt from providing a guarantee.
Entities must justify the execution of the program before January 31, 2027, by presenting the activity report, the expenditure table with invoices, and the published promotional material, which must include the phrase “With the support of the City Council of Sant Adrià de Besòs”. Failure to provide justification will result in the revocation of the subsidy and the return of the unjustified public funds.
The call, signed by Mayor Filomena Cañete Carrillo on July 29, 2026, represents a direct opportunity for local clubs that do not have their own facilities and that sustain the practice of these sports in the city. With these grants, the municipality strengthens its sporting associative fabric and expands the offer of sporting practice beyond the majority disciplines, with a clear commitment to grassroots sports, women’s sports, and sporting diversity.
