The Galician Health Department (Consellería de Sanidade) has just announced in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) the public call for the provision, by means of free designation, of two management positions in the Vigo Health Area, one of the major areas of the Galician Health Service (Sergas). The call was approved by Order of 4 August 2026, signed by the councillor Antonio Gómez Caamaño, and is published in issue 152 of the DOG, corresponding to Thursday 13 August 2026, on pages 44498 to 44500, within section IV of Competitions and selection procedures (CVE-DOG: nhf3g644-ggb5-rri9-fsg6-4agtemfyak08).

The call is governed by Article 121 of Law 8/2008 of 10 July, on health in Galicia, as amended by Law 1/2018 of 2 April, by Article 4.1.1 of Decree 134/2019 of 10 October, which regulates the health areas and health districts of the public health system, and by Articles 59 and 60 of Decree 206/2005 of 22 July, on the provision of statutory staff posts in the Sergas.

The positions offered

According to Annex I of the order, the two positions offered are assigned to the economic management of the area and are based in the city of Vigo:

  • Director/Manager of Economic Resources: required qualification of a university degree or bachelor’s degree or equivalent according to the European Higher Education Area.
  • Deputy Director/Deputy Manager of the Economic Resources Area: qualification of a university degree, bachelor’s degree or diploma or equivalent according to the European Higher Education Area.

Remuneration and contractual relationship

The fixed remuneration for the positions shall be that corresponding in accordance with the regulations in force on the preparation of payrolls for staff serving the regional administration. Variable remuneration shall be received based on compliance with the objectives previously agreed for each management position with the competent bodies of the Galician Health Service.

The relationship of the selected person shall be formalised by means of an administrative appointment when the person is statutory staff or civil servant with a permanent link to the service of any public administration; in the cases provided for in letters a), b) and c) of Article 60 of Decree 206/2005, it may be formalised by means of a senior management employment contract.

How to participate and deadlines

Applications may be submitted at the general registry of the central and peripheral services of the Galician Health Department and the Sergas, or through any of the procedures in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015 of 1 October, on the common administrative procedure. The deadline is ten business days counted from the day following the publication of the order in the DOG.

Interested persons must submit the application form in Annex II accompanied by a curriculum vitae and, within the deadline, register in their personal electronic file (Fides/expedient-e) their personal data, requirements and merits, and certify them before a validation unit, in accordance with the Order of 8 May 2012 regulating the electronic file of professionals in the public health system.

Resolution and appeals

The resolution of the call for applications will be published in the Official Gazette of Galicia and the offered positions may be declared void. Against the order, which exhausts the administrative route, an appeal for reconsideration may be lodged within one month or an administrative contentious appeal before the competent court within two months.

The call opens the door to the renewal of the economic management of one of the health areas with the greatest demographic and care weight in the Galician public system, in an appointment model that links part of the managers’ remuneration to the achievement of agreed objectives, a significant move for professionals from Sergas and other administrations interested in positions of responsibility.
