Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has made public the list of nominated grants for the third quarter of 2026 destined for prevention and assistance programs regarding addictions, for a total amount of 2,365,881 euros distributed among ten beneficiaries. The announcement, signed by the counselor Esther María Monzón Monzón on October 5, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands no. 211, dated October 22, 2026, in section V (Other announcements), with the official reference 3640.
The framework: budgets and transparency
The publication is carried out in compliance with article 31.c) of Law 12/2014, of December 26, on transparency and access to public information, which mandates the reporting of nominated grants. The funds come from Law 9/2025, of December 23, on the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for 2026, and are processed against the budgetary applications detailed in the announcement itself.
The document is headed by the Canarian Health Service and the General Directorate of Mental Health and Addictions, although the text indicates that the grants were processed by the General Directorate of Public Health. The order is registered under number 667/2026 (book 232) and electronically signed on October 5, 2026, at 1:41 p.m.
The beneficiaries and their amounts
The distribution is organized into ten grant lines, with two distinct purposes: to cover expenses for prevention programs and to cover assistance and prevention programs regarding addictions.
- Cabildo de Lanzarote: 1,166,788 euros (assistance and prevention) and 39,000 euros, up to 1,205,788 euros.
- City Council of Santa Lucía de Tirajana: 400,020 euros (assistance and prevention).
- Cabildo de Fuerteventura: 384,155 euros and 33,000 euros, up to 417,155 euros.
- City Council of Telde: 100,000 euros (prevention).
- Cabildo de Gran Canaria: 99,000 euros (prevention).
- Cabildo de La Palma: 93,000 euros (prevention).
- Cabildo de El Hierro: 32,918 euros and 18,000 euros, up to 50,918 euros.
The assigned budgetary applications are G/231A/4500400 and G/231A/4600400, both within the line of action 394, with different project codes in each case.
Concentration of expenditure by islands
The distribution is heavily concentrated. Lanzarote absorbs 1,205,788 euros, slightly more than half of the published total (around 51%), while the island of Gran Canaria totals 599,020 euros between the island council, the City Council of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, and the City Council of Telde, nearly 25% of the amount.
Fuerteventura receives 417,155 euros (17.6% of the total), while the western islands receive smaller amounts: La Palma with 93,000 euros and El Hierro with 50,918 euros. No beneficiaries from Tenerife or La Gomera appear in this third-quarter list.
Closing
The publication allows island councils, city halls, and social entities to verify the destination of funds that directly finance prevention and assistance programs against addictions in the archipelago, and fulfills the transparency obligation regarding nominated grants—those that the budget law assigns directly without a prior public call.
