Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of San Vicente de Alcántara has opened the application period for four Local Police officer positions through an open competitive examination, according to the rules and the call for applications approved by Mayoral resolution on October 8, 2026. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 200, dated October 19, 2026, under reference Announcement 4030/2026, and establishes an application submission period of 20 business days.
The positions correspond to the public employment offer for the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years, approved by Mayoral resolutions on January 30, 2025, and September 10, 2026. The first was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 23, dated February 4, 2025, with three positions, and the second in number 176, dated September 15, 2026, with one position. The positions are permanent (tenured) and the selection system is an open competitive examination, in accordance with Law 7/2017, of August 1, on the Coordination of Local Police of Extremadura, and Decree 64/2022, of June 8.
Characteristics of the four positions

- Scale: Special Administration; subscale: Special Services.
- Class: Local Police; designation: Officer.
- Number of vacancies: four.
- Remuneration: salary, triennials, extraordinary payments, and other remuneration according to current legislation.
- Functions: those listed in article 53 of Organic Law 2/1986, of March 13, on Security Forces and Corps, and those in article 23 of the Extremaduran Law 7/2017.
Requirements and submission of applications
Applicants must meet the requirements of article 48 of Law 7/2017 by the closing date of the period:
- Spanish nationality and at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma (Bachiller) or equivalent Technical qualification.
- Physical and psychological conditions certified by a medical certificate.
- Not having been dismissed from service through disciplinary proceedings nor being disqualified by a final judgment.
- No criminal record for intentional crimes.

Applications must follow the model in Annex IV and be addressed to the Mayor-President. They are to be submitted via the General Electronic Registry of the City Council or through the channels specified in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1. The examination fees are set at 60.00 euros, to be deposited into the Caja Rural account ES78 3009 0112 842449748124. The period of 20 business days is counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette, according to the text of the rules.
Eliminatory tests and qualifying tribunal
The competitive examination phase consists of five eliminatory exercises: a theoretical test of 80 multiple-choice questions in 100 minutes, with ten reserve questions; a practical case-study test with a maximum of 90 minutes; the physical tests listed in Annex II, with marks differentiated by gender and age range; a psychotechnical test; and a medical examination in accordance with the exclusion table in Annex I. The theoretical and practical tests are graded from 0 to 10 points and require a minimum of five; the physical tests also require an average of five points.
The Qualifying Board will be presided over by a career official appointed by the Mayor’s Office, with the Secretary of the corporation serving as secretary with a voice but no vote, and three members: one appointed by the competent department for local police coordination, the Chief of the Local Police, and another official appointed by the Mayor’s Office. The order of performance in the exercises is governed by the draw of the State Secretariat for Civil Service of July 25, 2024, which begins with the letter “V”.
Subsequent Calendar and Appeals Process
Once the application period has expired, the Mayor’s Office will issue the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates within two months, with ten business days for corrections. After passing the examination, the selected candidates must complete a selective course at the Public Security Academy of Extremadura of at least four in-person months and a practical internship period of at least one month. The appointment as a career official will be published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura, and the assumption of office must be formalized within 15 days.
Against the rules, which exhaust the administrative route, a motion for reconsideration may be filed within one month before the Mayor’s Office and, subsequently, a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Badajoz.
The call for applications reinforces the staff of a small municipality with four new officers over two consecutive years and opens a stable employment opportunity in the public sector for High School graduates with A2 and B licenses, in a process whose calendar is subject to the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette.
