Salou announces the XXIV 30 d'Octubre Awards for children's and youth creativity

The Salou City Council has approved the call for the granting of the XXIV October 30th Awards for Children’s and Youth Creativity 2026, addressed to children and young people between 6 and 21 years old who wish to participate in the modalities of plastic arts, photography, audiovisuals, and literature. The agreement was adopted by the Local Government Board in an ordinary session on August 13, 2026, and the call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona (BOPT) on September 8, 2026, with official reference CVE 2026-08313 (pp. 1-3).

The call is governed by the rules approved by the Local Government Board on May 17, 2018, which, having not been modified, remain in force for the 2026 financial year. In accordance with Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies (articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a), the summary of the call is published, the full text of which can be consulted in the National Subsidy Database (BDNS) with identifier 927498.

Who can participate and in which modalities

The awards are open to all boys and girls from 6 years old (who have completed the first year of primary school during the 2025-2026 academic year) up to 21 years old, provided they are enrolled in educational centers in Salou or registered as residents in the municipality. The submitted works must comply with the characteristics specified in the rules for each modality.

• Plastic arts
• Photography
• Audiovisuals
• Literature (poetry, illustrated story, article, narrative, etc.)

The selection is organized into six categories according to the grade being completed during participation:

• Category A – Initial cycle (1st and 2nd grade of primary)
• Category B – Middle cycle (3rd and 4th grade of primary)
• Category C – Upper cycle (5th and 6th grade of primary)
• Category D – 1st and 2nd year of ESO (Secondary Education)
• Category E – 3rd and 4th year of ESO (Secondary Education)
• Category F – 1st and 2nd year of Baccalaureate and Vocational Training Cycles

Deadlines and submission of works

Participants may submit their works to the Cultural Services Area of the Salou City Council. The deadline for submitting applications will be 20 business days after the publication of the call in the BOPT. Participants in the literary section must send the work to the email address cultura@salou.cat, indicating the title of the work and the pseudonym in the subject line, and in the body of the message the section, the category, and the personal details of the author, without any annotation that allows the authorship to be identified.

Award endowments

Three prizes have been established per modality and selection category, with endowments that vary according to the level:

• Categories A and B: mountain bike (1st), inline skates or scooter (2nd) and a set of stories or painting materials (3rd)
• Categories C and D: tablet (1st), smartwatch (2nd) and speakers (3rd)
• Category E: vouchers for €300, €200 and €150
• Category F: vouchers for €400, €300 and €200

Prizes will be subject to the current tax regime and, if applicable, to withholding or payment on account obligations. Finalists will be presented with a diploma, the book containing the collection of winning works, and a participation gift. The jury, composed of competent individuals in the fields of photography, plastic arts, literature, and audiovisuals, may declare a prize void or grant runners-up and special mentions without financial endowment.

Award Ceremony

The delivery and communication of the prizes will take place on a day in October 2026, on the date determined by the Cultural Services Area, through two public events at the Teatre Auditori de Salou: a first event for the plastic arts and literature modalities of categories A, B, and C, and a second event for the plastic arts, literature, photography, and audiovisual modalities of categories D, E, and F. The call is signed by the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados i Carrillo.

This call consolidates one of the most rooted initiatives for the promotion of artistic and literary creation in the municipality, which reaches its twenty-fourth edition and offers the children and youth of Salou an opportunity to showcase their talent in a public and recognized framework, with prizes ranging from recreational and technological materials to shopping vouchers for local businesses.
