Salorino unanimously approves its municipal plan against forest fires
Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary of the Salorino City Council definitively and unanimously approved its Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fire Risk during an ordinary session held on September 28, 2026. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (BOP) No. 0187, dated September 30, 2026, Section I - Local Administration, with the official reference CVE: BOP-2026-4541. The document bears the signature of the mayor-president, Álvaro Sánchez Cotrina.
A plan required by INFOCAEX
INFOCAEX is the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, which determines, based on the danger level of the territory, which municipalities must develop a municipal action plan for forest fire risk. Salorino is included in that list, which justifies the need to provide the municipality with its own instrument to ensure the effective and coordinated intervention of the resources and means available to the local Administration.
Prior to the plenary approval, the plan had received a favorable report from the Permanent Civil Protection Commission of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura in a session on August 25, 2026. Final approval took place one month later, on September 28, and the announcement is now published in the provincial gazette.
Objectives and operational scope
According to the official announcement, the plan aims to achieve maximum protection for people, property, and the environment that may be affected by forest fires. The document has been designed as an operational instrument for rapid application in the municipality, containing the following:
- The provision of the organic-functional framework of the municipal device.
- The mechanisms that facilitate the mobilization of human and material resources.
- The protection of people, animals, and property in the event of forest fire risk.
- The coordination scheme between the different Public Administrations called upon to intervene.
Public consultation and appeal process
The plan is published, for consultation by any interested party, on the Notice Board and on the electronic office of the Salorino City Council, accessible at https://salorino.sedelectronica.es.
Against the agreement, which concludes the administrative process, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Extremadura, based in Cáceres, within two months from the day following the publication of the announcement. The announcement invokes Article 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.
The approval concludes the municipal procedure for a civil protection instrument that organizes the City Council’s response to a forest fire emergency. For the residents of Salorino, the plan establishes who decides, what resources are available, and how administrations are coordinated when a risk is declared; furthermore, it remains available to the public on the municipal electronic office.
