Sada calls for grants of up to 240 euros for school transport
Por FactBox Admin

The Sada City Council announces financial aid for school-related travel for the 2026 academic year, with a maximum budget of 15,000 euros and an amount per beneficiary between 130 and 240 euros. The call was approved by the Mayor’s Office via decree no. 1693/2026, dated September 25, 2026, and the full text of the rules is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña (BOP) number 213, dated Friday, November 6, 2026, under announcement number 2026/7153.
The measure affects families with children registered in Sada who pursue studies outside the municipal boundaries, as the rules limit the aid to official non-compulsory education. The processing is carried out under a competitive bidding regime, and the grants are charged to budget application 326.48011 of the General Budget of the Council, subject to the existence of adequate and sufficient credit.
The legal framework refers to Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies Law, to Royal Decree 887/2006, to Law 9/2007, of June 13, on Subsidies of Galicia, to Decree 11/2009, and to the Strategic Subsidy Plan 2024–2026 of the Sada City Council. The announcement is signed by the Department of Sports, Education, and Youth and bears the approval of the mayor, Oscar Benito Portela Fernández, dated November 3, 2026.
Only baccalaureate, vocational training, university, and artistic studies
Those who, at the end of the application period, meet these requirements may be beneficiaries:
- Be registered in the Sada City Council.
- Be enrolled in face-to-face modality at a public center in one of these studies: Vocational Training cycles, Baccalaureate, university studies, or higher artistic studies.
- Not be subject to the prohibitions of article 13 of Law 38/2003.
- In the case of 1st and 2nd year Baccalaureate at IES Isaac Díaz Pardo in Sada, use route no. 2 of the integrated transport service, with stops that must coincide with the registered address.
Excluded, on the other hand, are those pursuing Early Childhood Education, Primary, or ESO (compulsory secondary education), students from private or semi-private (concertados) centers, studies lasting less than six months, and distance, virtual, or telematics training.
Scale: family income, distance, and age
The maximum score is obtained from the sum of three factors and a supplement:
- Per capita income of the household unit (up to 10 points): 10 points for under 4,000 euros, 8 points between 4,001 and 6,000, 6 points between 6,001 and 8,000, 4 points between 8,001 and 10,000, 2 points between 10,001 and 12,000 and no points above that figure. The calculation is made using sections 435, 460 and 595 of the income tax return.
- Distance between home and center (up to 6 points): 6 points over 200 km, 5 points between 100 and 200 km, 4 points between 50 and 100 km, 3 points between 20 and 50 km and 2 points under 20 km.
- Age of the applicant (up to 3 points): 3 points between 15 and 25 years, 2 points between 26 and 35 years and no points over 35.
- Socio-family situation (1 additional point): large family, single-parent, foster care, people with disabilities or dependency, economic vulnerability or victim of gender violence. In the event of a tie, the lowest per capita income is prioritized.
Amounts, deadline and justification
The amounts fixed in base 7 are as follows:
- More than 15 points: 240 euros.
- From 12 to 14 points: 210 euros.
- From 9 to 11 points: 160 euros.
- Less than 8 points: 130 euros.
Applications are preferably submitted electronically through the municipal electronic office and the deadline is 15 calendar days from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official Provincial Gazette. The documentation includes the standardized form of Annex I, the responsible declaration of Annex II, a photocopy of the DNI, a bank certificate, proof of enrollment, a certificate of socio-family situation if applicable and the income tax return of the household unit.
The assessment is carried out by a commission chaired by a technician in sociocultural animation, with two members —the Youth Activities coordinator and a management technician— and the sociocultural animator of the area of Culture, Education, Youth and Sport as secretary. Documentation defects can be corrected within a period of ten business days and, after the provisional proposal, another period of ten business days is opened for appeals.
Payment is made after the final resolution. Beneficiaries must present between April 1 and April 30, 2027, a certification from the center proving the continuity of enrollment; the lack of this document will lead to the full reimbursement of the aid.
For families from Sada with students outside the municipality, the call represents a partial relief of a recurring expense throughout the course: the aid does not cover the full cost of transport, but rather finances it partially, and the final amount depends on income, distance to the center and the age of the student.
