Sabadell calls for an urgent registry of graphic design teachers

The Sabadell City Council has opened an urgent call to establish a job bank intended to cover, on a temporary basis, positions for senior technician/teacher of graphic design (classification group A1). The decision was adopted through Decree 14204/2026, dated September 10, signed by the Deputy Mayor of the Area of Economy and Central Services, Montserrat González Ruiz, and the announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on September 14, 2026, with official reference CVE 202610140012.

The call, with code BEA11426 and file RRH/2026/6422, responds to the need to fill positions when they cannot be covered by career civil servants or permanent contractual staff, and covers situations such as vacancies for a maximum of three years, transitory substitutions, temporary programs, or an excess of accumulated tasks. Working conditions are governed by the current agreement/convention of the council.

Requirements and required qualifications

To participate, one must have Spanish nationality, nationality of a European Union member state, or a state with free movement of workers, and have reached 16 years of age without exceeding the compulsory retirement age. Possession of one of the following qualifications is required:

• Degree in Design (major in Graphic Design) or Digital Design (major in graphic design).
• EAS in Design (Graphic Design) or a higher degree in graphic design equivalent to a Degree.
• Degree in Fine Arts.
• Degree combined with a graduate in applied arts, senior technician in plastic arts and design, or senior technician in design and editorial production, among others.

It is also necessary to certify Catalan proficiency level C1 and, for those who do not have Spanish nationality, Spanish level B2, with the possibility of taking eliminatory tests if these are not certified.

Submission of applications and selection process

Applications should preferably be submitted electronically via the City Council’s electronic office, using a digital certificate or electronic signature, and in person only in exceptional cases. The deadline is 10 calendar days starting from the day after the publication of the announcement in the official gazette.

The selection process consists of several mandatory phases and a single call:

• Practical teaching test, curricular presentation, and presentation of the artistic/professional portfolio, with a maximum of 20 points (minimum 10 to pass).
• Competency test, with a maximum of 10 points (minimum 5), which includes direct observation and a competency interview.
• Catalan C1 and Spanish B2 tests, graded as “PASS” or “FAIL”, for those who do not certify the level.

The practical teaching test consists of developing a didactic proposal for the Advertising Graphics Projects module of the higher vocational training cycle in Advertising Graphics, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.

Constitution and validity of the pool

Once all tests are completed, the pool will be constituted by decree and will have a maximum validity of two years, extendable by prior agreement with the social partners. Candidates will be ordered by final score, from highest to lowest, and in the event of a tie, tie-breaking criteria based on the test scores and positive discrimination for the underrepresented gender in the workforce will be applied.

The provisional list of admitted and excluded persons, the date of the tests, and the composition of the tribunal will be published on the municipal website, and applicants will have 5 business days to submit amendments and claims.
