Ruiz-Alejos, new member of the Social Council of the University of La Rioja

The Official Gazette of La Rioja (number 154, of 13 August 2026) publishes this Thursday, in its Section II of Authorities and Personnel, the Resolutions 61/2026 and 62/2026 of the Ministry of Education and Employment, both dated 6 August in Logroño. The first removes Florencio Nicolás Aransay as member of the Social Council of the University of La Rioja and the second appoints in his place José María Ruiz-Alejos Herrero, representative of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of La Rioja. The agreements, signed by the Regional Minister Alberto Galiana García, are published on pages 14232 and 14233.

The replacement takes place within the process provided for by Riojan regulations on university governing bodies. Law 6/2003, of 26 March, on the Social Council of the University of La Rioja, and Decree 35/2005, of 26 May, approving its rules of organization and operation, set out the rules for the composition and renewal of the body.

The proceedings began with the written communication from the secretary of the Social Council, dated 24 July 2026, reporting the appointment of the new member, and continued with the proposal from the Deputy Ministry of Education, Universities and Vocational Training, dated 3 August. The head of the Ministry acted under the powers conferred by Article 10.1 of Law 6/2003 and by Decree 53/2023, of 14 July, on the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Employment.

Replacement in the Chamber’s representation

The change affects the seat reserved for the Chamber of Commerce on the Social Council:

• Florencio Nicolás Aransay — removed as member representing the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of La Rioja (Resolution 61/2026).
• José María Ruiz-Alejos Herrero — appointed as member representing the same Chamber on the Social Council (Resolution 62/2026).

Both resolutions provide for their publication in the Official Gazette of La Rioja “for general information”.

Relevance of the Social Council

The Social Council of the University of La Rioja is the participation body of Riojan society in the life of the academic institution and exercises supervision over its activity. With this change, representation of the region’s business and commercial fabric is renewed in a decisive body for the planning and control of the public university of La Rioja.
