Revocan la aprobación de la escuela de conductores del Automóvil Club

The Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Transport and Telecommunications of the Biobío Region revoked the approval granted to the teaching program of the Non-Professional or Class B Driving School known as Automóvil Club de Chile Limitada, at its branch located at Caupolicán St. No. 85, commune of Concepción. The measure was established in exempt resolution No. 1,670, dated September 30, 2026, and was published as an extract in the Official Gazette (Diario Oficial) no. 44,578, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, under official reference CVE 2887125. Consequently, this branch no longer has an approved program to provide courses leading to the obtainment of Class “B” Driver’s licenses.

The extract appears in Section II of the bulletin, corresponding to the Ministry of the Interior and dedicated to decrees, resolutions, requests, and regulations of particular interest, within the Particular Regulations section. The administrative act was signed by Henry Leonardo Campos Coa, Regional Ministerial Secretary of Transport and Telecommunications of the Biobío Region.

An approval in effect since 2007

The authorization now being revoked had been in effect for nearly two decades and had been adjusted on two occasions. The administrative history of the Caupolicán No. 85 branch is as follows:

  • Exempt resolution No. 166, of 2007, which granted the original approval of the teaching program.
  • Exempt resolution No. 202, of 2008, which modified the previous one.
  • Exempt resolution No. 366, of 2019, which introduced a second modification.

All of these were issued by the same Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Biobío, as stated in the extract published in the Official Gazette.

What resolution No. 1,670 nullifies

The administrative act of September 30, 2026, is not limited to withdrawing the authorization: it also orders a readjustment of the school’s file. Specifically, it provides for:

  • Nullifying exempt resolution No. 202, of 2008.
  • Nullifying exempt resolution No. 366, of 2019.
  • Modifying exempt resolution No. 166, of 2007, “only in the sense of eliminating numerals 3, 4, and 5,” regarding the Concepción branch.

The wording used implies that the 2007 resolution survives as an act, but stripped of the numerals that enabled the operation of the program at that specific address. The extract does not detail the factual grounds or the causes that motivated the revocation.

Territorial scope of the measure

The revocation is expressly limited to the branch located at Caupolicán St. No. 85, commune of Concepción, and refers to the non-professional or Class B school program. The official text does not mention other branches or other license categories of the same entity, meaning the scope of the act is exhausted at the indicated address in Concepción.

The publication was made in a single-page edition for this document, within the newsletter of 44,578 consecutively numbered copies of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile, whose director is Giovanni Calderón Bassi.

The news is important for those who planned to enroll at that location to obtain their Class “B” license: without an approved program, the school cannot provide the courses leading to that driver’s permit there. The revocation also highlights the control mechanism exercised by the Seremi over driver training programs, which can be approved, modified, and withdrawn through exempt resolutions published as extracts in the official gazette.
