Authorization to open the private centre Ironhack FP in Barcelona revoked.

Por FactBox Admin

The Barcelona Education Consortium has revoked the opening authorization of the private educational center Ironhack FP, in Barcelona, for non-compliance with the authorization conditions attributable to its ownership. The decision, adopted by the Resolution of 3 August 2026, was made public on 13 August in the Official Journal of the Government of Catalonia (DOGC) number 9729. The official document bears the reference CVE-DOGC-A-26218019-2026.

The proceedings were initiated by the Resolution of 18 March 2026, following non-compliance with the requirements of Article 16.b of Decree 122/2012, of 9 October, on the authorization and prior communication procedure for private educational centers, the regulation governing the opening and operation of private centers in Catalonia. The same regulation, in Article 16.3, requires resolutions on the extinction of authorizations to be published in the DOGC, a step that explains the official dissemination of the decision.

The case affects a private vocational training school located at Carrer Aragó, 302, in Barcelona, which operated under code 08079109 and belongs to Ironhack Spain SL, a company with tax ID number B16880049.

A procedure resolved in less than five months

The procedure began with the initiation on 18 March and concluded on 3 August, when the resolution declared the revocation of the center’s opening authorization for non-compliance with the authorization conditions. Article 16.b of Decree 122/2012 sets out the requirements that private centers must maintain during the validity of the authorization, and failure to comply enables the Administration to extinguish it.

The proceedings, numbered with reference 26.218.019, attribute the non-compliance to the center’s ownership, that is, to Ironhack Spain SL. The final resolution also provides for the registration of the measure in the Register of Centers, the administrative record in which the additions and removals of educational centers in Catalonia are reflected, with the effects that this entails for the center’s administrative status.

The center’s details

The identifying details included in the resolution are as follows:

  • Name: Ironhack FP.
  • Center code: 08079109.
  • Municipality: Barcelona.
  • Address: Carrer Aragó, 302.
  • Owner: Ironhack Spain SL (tax ID B16880049).

Signature and official publicity

The resolution bears the signature of Anna Terra i Sans, manager of the Barcelona Education Consortium, and is dated in Barcelona on 5 August 2026. Its publication in the DOGC fulfills the requirement of Article 16.3 of Decree 122/2012, which subjects decisions on the extinction of authorizations to official publicity, so that the revocation acquires full effect vis-à-vis third parties.

With this revocation, the private vocational training provision in Barcelona loses one operator at a time of growing demand for these studies. The loss of the opening authorisation leaves the centre without administrative protection to continue its activity, which forces the ownership to reorganise its project and places the Barcelona Education Consortium as a key player in supervising the city’s educational map.
