The Reus City Council has opened the call for the 5th Edition of the City of Reus Environmental Awards 2026, under a competitive bidding process, according to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona (BOPT) on October 8, 2026, with the official reference CVE 2026-09317. The call was approved by Decree no. 2026022432, dated October 6, 2026, signed by the delegated councilor for the Area of Environment, Sustainability, and Public Roads, Daniel Rubio Angosto, and the general secretary Jaume Renyer Alimbau. The deadline for submitting candidacies remains open until October 31, 2026.
The awards recognize individuals, legal entities, and organizations that promote innovative environmental projects oriented toward the sustainable development of the municipality of Reus, with the aim of advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The regulatory bases were initially approved in the ordinary session of the Local Government Board on July 31, 2026, were submitted for public information—announcement in the BOPT with CVE 2026-07578, dated August 7, 2026, and in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya on August 11, 2026—and were definitively approved and published in full in the BOPT on September 16, 2026, with the reference CVE 2026-08592.
The call is included in the 2025-2027 Strategic Subsidy Plan of the Reus City Council, approved on December 29, 2025, as subsidy line 9.1.11.1, and its summary is published in the National Subsidy Database with the identifier 933782, in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, general law on subsidies.
Three categories and 6,300 euros in funding
The amount planned for the granting of the awards is 6,300 euros, charged to the budgetary application 40335-17030-489 of the 2026 expenditure budget of the Reus City Council. The distribution is as follows:
- City of Reus Environmental Award for the business sector within the municipality of Reus: 2,000 euros.
- City of Reus Environmental Award for the associative or community sector, specifically for environmental and animal welfare initiatives: 2,000 euros.
- City of Reus Environmental Award for the educational sector, for educational centers or parents’ associations located within the municipal boundaries: 2,000 euros.
The remaining 300 euros correspond to awards in kind—framed certificates or similar—valued at 100 euros for each award winner. The funding cannot be increased, and the prizes are subject to the legally applicable withholding tax according to the tax regime of the award recipient. The jury may also grant honorary mentions or runners-up without financial content.
Requirements, deadlines, and evaluation criteria
Applications must be submitted using the standardized form and accompanying documentation electronically via the municipal electronic office, at the address https://www.reus.cat/ajuts, from the publication of the call until October 31, 2026. Each candidate may submit a maximum of one application per category, and actions, activities, or practices already awarded in previous editions are not permitted.
Projects must have started a maximum of two years and a minimum of six months before the call, may be completed or operational, and must present quantifiable environmental impacts at the time of application; forecasts are not evaluated, only real impacts. The evaluation is based on a maximum of 100 points, with a minimum score of 60 to be eligible for the award, according to these criteria:
- Environmental impact of the initiative: up to 20 points.
- Durability and continuity over time: up to 20 points.
- Volunteerism or participation: up to 10 points.
- Social cohesion and social impact: up to 10 points.
- Innovation: up to 10 points.
- Dissemination of the actions: up to 10 points.
- Quality level of the initiative: up to 10 points.

Jury and resolution of the procedure
The jury, which may declare any or all awards void, is composed of the following people:
- Daniel Rubio Angosto, delegated councilor for the Area of Environment, Sustainability and Public Roads, as president.
- Ramon Castellví Andreu, head of the Environment service.

The instructing body is the general administration technician assigned to the Environment Service, and the competent body to resolve is the delegated councilor of the Environment Area. The maximum term to resolve and notify is six months from the day after the end of the application period; once this term has elapsed, the application is understood to be rejected by negative silence. The resolution ends the administrative route and may be optionally appealed for reversal. The verdict will be made public in an award ceremony and payment will be processed by bank transfer.
With this fifth edition, the Reus City Council consolidates an annual line of grants aimed at rewarding real and measurable initiatives in sustainability, circular economy, biodiversity, environmental education, and animal welfare within the municipality. For companies, entities, and educational centers in Reus, the call opens a window until October 31 to obtain public recognition and up to 2,000 euros per project, with the requirement to prove impacts already produced and not simple forecasts.
