Reus aprova definitivament les bases dels Premis Medi Ambient Ciutat de Reus

The Reus City Council has definitively approved the regulatory bases for the City of Reus Environmental Awards, according to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on September 16, 2026. The decision, adopted by the Local Governing Board in an ordinary session on July 31, 2026, is formalized with the official reference CVE 2026-08592 and the signature of the general secretary, Jaume Renyer Alimbau.

The bases were submitted for public information through the insertion of the announcement in the BOP (reference CVE 2026-07578) on August 7, 2026, and in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya on August 11, 2026. As no allegations were made within the legal deadline, the bases have been definitively approved and enter into force upon their publication in the provincial gazette, with indefinite validity.

Three categories and financial endowment

The awards publicly recognize individuals, legal entities, and organizations that promote innovative environmental projects oriented towards the sustainable development of Reus. They are divided into three modalities:

  • City of Reus Environmental Award for the business sector within the municipality.
  • City of Reus Environmental Award for the associative or community sector, specifically for environmental and animal welfare initiatives.
  • City of Reus Environmental Award for the educational sector.

Each category is endowed with 2,000 euros in cash, with a total endowment of 6,000 euros, which cannot be increased. Additionally, at the delivery, an award or framed certificate valued at 100 euros will be presented to each winner, which will be considered a grant in kind. The awards are included within the City Council’s Strategic Grant Plan 2025-2027, as grant line no. 9.1.11.1.

Annual call and candidacies

The call will be carried out through a competitive bidding procedure, on an annual basis and subject to budget availability, via a decree from the delegated councillor for the Area of Environment, Sustainability, and Public Roads. It will be published on the municipal electronic office and in the National Grants Database, and will establish the deadline for submitting candidacies.

The following may apply:

  • Companies or freelancers with their main economic activity and registered office and/or tax address in Reus.
  • Non-profit associations and entities registered in the municipal registry of entities, including animal protection organizations.
  • Public or private educational centers and parents’ associations located within the municipal boundaries.

Each applicant may submit a maximum of one candidacy per modality, and winners of the same category may not apply for the following three consecutive years after the edition in which they were awarded.

Evaluation and jury

The initiatives will be evaluated by a Jury chaired by the Councilor for the Environment Area, with the participation of the head of the Environment service, an Environment technician as secretary, the head of the Education service, and three representatives from the neighborhood, commercial and entrepreneurial, veterinary, and journalistic sectors. The maximum score is 100 points, with a minimum of 60 points to be eligible for the award, and criteria such as environmental impact, participation, sustainability, social cohesion, innovation, and dissemination are evaluated.

The maximum period for resolution and notification will be six months from the end of the application submission period, and the award will be presented at a public event. Payment of the prize will be made by bank transfer to the account indicated in the application.

These awards represent public recognition and a financial incentive for companies, entities, and educational centers in Reus that promote sustainability, biodiversity, the circular economy, and animal welfare, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
