Retrait des guirlandes de Noël Woox pour non-conformité électrique en Belgique

The Belgian Official Gazette (Moniteur belge) of October 12, 2026, publishes a ministerial decree ordering the withdrawal from the Belgian market of Woox brand Christmas string lights, type R5151 (2951522) and bearing EAN code 8435606715072. The decision, referenced C − 2026/007376, is issued by the Minister of Consumer Protection and the Minister of Energy and appears on pages 54439 and 54440 of the official journal.

Marking Non-Compliance

The product is presented as compliant with harmonized standards EN IEC 60598-1:2021 + A11:2022 (“Luminaires – Part 1: General requirements and tests”) and EN 60598-2-20:2015 (“Luminaires – Part 2-20: Particular requirements – String lights”). However, it appears from the test report submitted on January 6, 2026, by an independent and accredited laboratory that these string lights do not satisfy point 3.2 (marking) of these standards.

The decree is based on Article IX.4, § 2, of the Code of Economic Law, as amended by the law of April 18, 2017, as well as Article VIII.2 of the same Code and the Royal Decree of April 21, 2016, regarding the making available on the market of electrical equipment. The product concerned constitutes electrical equipment within the meaning of Article 3, § 2, of this Royal Decree.
