The Executive Committee of the Menorca Talaiòtica Agency has been renewed with eight members
Por FactBox Admin

The president of the Agència Menorca Talaiòtica, Juan Domingo Pons Torres, has renewed the entity’s Executive Commission with the appointment of eight members, including principals and alternates. The decision was adopted through Presidency Decree no. 2/2026, of October 16, signed in Maó on October 19, and was published in BOIB no. 137 on October 27, 2026 (reference 10710, file 7402-2026-000014).
The Agència Menorca Talaiòtica is a specialized organization without its own legal personality dependent on the Insular Council of Menorca, attached to the department competent in matters of historical heritage. Its creation and statutes were definitively approved by agreement of the Insular Plenary on December 20, 2021, published in BOIB no. 14 on January 27, 2022.
The statutes structure the entity into five executive bodies—Presidency, Vice-Presidency, Management, Executive Commission, and Governing Council—and two consultative bodies: the Social Council and the Scientific Council. The latter was already updated in August through Presidency Decree no. 1/2026, published in BOIB no. 100 on August 11, 2026.
The composition established by the statutes
Article 11.2 of the statutes determines who must sit on the Executive Commission. The body is composed of:
- The president of the Agency.
- The vice-president.
- The insular director with competencies in historical heritage, if the Vice-Presidency does not fall to this person.
- The head of the Historical Heritage Service or a member of its technical staff.
- The director of the Agency, or a technician from the Agency, with voice but without vote.
- The director of the Agència Menorca Reserva de Biosfera, or a technician from the Department of Environment, with voice but without vote.
The eight approved names
The decree resolves to appoint the following people as members of the Executive Commission:
- Juan Domingo Pons Torres, president.
- Jaime Reurer Morlà, vice-president.
- Victòria Cantarellas Sancho, principal, archaeologist of the CIM’s Historical Heritage Service.
- Miquel Àngel Marquès Sintes, first alternate, technician of the same service.
- Sara Santaella Janer, second alternate, technician of the same service.
- Bàrbara Jordi Petrus, representing the Management of the Agency, with voice but without vote.
- David Vidal Seguí, principal, director of the Agència Menorca Reserva de Biosfera, with voice but without vote.
- Àlex Cortada Salas, alternate for the director of the Agència Menorca Reserva de Biosfera.
Two vacancies following the renewal
The decree is prompted by the retirement update of Joana Gual Cerdó, head of the Historic Heritage Service of the CIM and member of the Scientific Council, who has left the position vacant. Until the positions are filled, the designation of technical personnel is temporary: Victòria Cantarellas Sancho as titular and Miquel Àngel Marquès Sintes and Sara Santaella Janer as first and second alternates.
The second vacancy affects the Management of the Agency, which has had no titular since the resignation of the previous head effective November 1, 2025. Therefore, Bàrbara Jordi Petrus, an archaeological technician of the entity, is designated to attend the commission with voice but without vote until the position is filled.
Legal basis and effects
The decree is based on article 8.2, letter f, of the statutes and on Law 4/2022, of June 28, on insular councils. The Presidency of the Agency falls to Juan Domingo Pons Torres by delegation agreed upon in Presidency Decree no. 103/2023, of July 14 (BOIB no. 99 of July 18, 2023), and the Vice-Presidency corresponds to the insular director of historic heritage, a position held by Jaime Reurer Morlà since Presidency Decree no. 122/2023 (BOIB no. 104 of July 25, 2023).
The resolution orders the notification of the appointment to the interested parties, reporting it to the Plenary in the first session that takes place, and publishing it in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands, without prejudice to it taking effect from the date it was issued.
With the Executive Commission complete, the Agency gains the body that must drive the ordinary management of the island’s Talayotic heritage and prevents vacancies from stalling the convening of its meetings. However, the temporary designation of the technicians from the Historic Heritage Service leaves the definitive filling of the Management and the head of service pending, two key pieces for the execution of the entity’s projects.
